what are your favorite spices to make vegetarian food taste good?!

Question: What are your favorite spices to make vegetarian food taste good?
I've been vegetarian for 19 years and couldn't imagine life without spices. Here's some of my favorites:

1) Garlic powder- I use on bread, soups, noodles etc
2) Cinnamon - mostly in my quaker oatmeal
2) tumeric & cardamom - when I attempt to make indian briyani rice

Answers:

I also love lemon juice. For spices, I go more toward the green stuff. Basil, oregano, parsley, etc. Also chopped onions seem to make the flavor of the entire dish stronger.

So, this has nothing to do with your question but I started a blog and am trying to find people that find it interesting. Feel free to check it out: http://piceasitchensis.wordpress.com/
