Im a vegetarian and I would like to know your thoughts about my quesiton1?!

Question: Im a vegetarian and I would like to know your thoughts about my quesiton1?
Im a vegetairan, been one for 7 years, im now 17, 18 in August.

Im Male.

I stopped eating meat becuase I felt bad for the animals when I saw them slaughtered, and the memory has stuck with me since the age of 10.

I remeber eating meat and how it tasted nice, but thinking of where it came from put me off today... HOWEVER...

I kind of want to start eating meat again, but where I have been a vegetairan for a while, it feels like a religion and that I am going against it if I eat meant. I want to each a chicken burger with my mates at KFC etc... and I want a baccon butty...

but it feels like a wate of 7 years if i give up now...

what do you think?

Answers:

i'm a vegitarian and i sometimes feel the same way. if it's what you really want to do then do it. try going to
or
for some great recipes and you an watch the videos on what its like for the animals. im sure that what they go through now is worse than what they went through 7 years ago.also, meat is not good for your health becuase it causes heart disease and high blood pressure.

Man kind is omnivorous so needs to eat both meat and vegetables. As the animals are raised for consumption and it is done with care and morals is slaughtered humanely then eat away.

MAte, you're not supposed to have bacon butties after the age of 27 anyway.

KFC is shite. Come on man!!
Just please, ride the wave, ok? Focus on this moment, you canNOT stop being vegetarian for a flipping KFC for chirssakes.
Stuff your mates- the best thing at KFC is the potato wedges anyway.

DOn't crumble now. you can get veg bacon- MOrningstar bacon is amazing. Even the Seventh Day adventists ( who are vegetarian) love to make veg bacon- there's TONS of options.

Get some veg bacon, make a load of really sloppy buttery sandwiches and ketchup and baco in them. Hot dripping veg bacon.

Ride the wave.

I've been vegetarian for almost the same amount of time, and I am opposite of you.
I want to go vegan...kinda.
But, I feel bad every time I have to tell my mom that I don't want to eat something.
So it is like the culture in that way.
Tell me one thing though:
It is the taste or is it the chewiness that lures you or what?
I know that I smell yummy meat all the time....then I think about eating the disgusting animals and I can't do it.
What is pulling you?
But, if you really want to eat meat again, there are a lot of anti-vegan/vegetarian sites out there, just look them up on google.
I think you'll see a difference though, and want to be vege again, that's just my opinion.
Oh, and if you do try to, wean carefully.
I mean, introduce meat slowly....or you'll get sick.

Vegetarian for 6 years.

You were the one who decided to stop eating meat; you'll have to be the one to decide to start again. It's not magic; it's not religion; it's food. It's a major component of a balanced diet. Humans evolved eating meat. We do better on a balanced diet: some meat, some veggies, some fruit, restrict processed carbs and sugar.

I wouldn't call your seven years as a vegetarian a waste. I'm sure you learned quite a bit during that time. But people change as they get older. While you may be giving up vegetarianism, someone else is just starting.

Many people don't realize that 1.2 billion animals are killed in the fields during the planting, cultivating, and harvesting the grains and veggies that make up the vegetarian diet. You are as much a part of nature as the lion killing the baby zebra. Whether you choose to eat them or not, animals die so you can eat. From the link:

"Animals of the field are killed by several factors, including:

1. Tractors and farm implements run over them.
2. Plows and cultivators destroy underground burrows and kill animals.
3. Removal of the crops (harvest) removes ground cover allowing animals on the surface to be killed by predators.
4. Application of pesticides.

So, every time the tractor goes through the field to plow, disc, cultivate, apply fertilizer and/or pesticide, harvest, etc., animals are killed. And, intensive agriculture such as corn and soybeans (products central to a vegan diet) kills far more animals of the field than would extensive agriculture like forage production, particularly if the forage was harvested by ruminant animals instead of machines. So perhaps fewer animals would be killed by producing beef, lamb, and dairy products for humans to eat instead of the vegan diet envisioned by Regan."

Hey! I'm 17, female and a vegetarian too!!! I have been 6 yrs. I just began to find it creepy I was eating a piece of something that once was up walking around. I began to imagine animals walking about with holes in their sides. So one day I decided enough was enough and I didn't want meat anymore. My parents hate it. But the fantastic thing is...we have free will. We get to decide what we want to eat. Sometimes I will smell meat and think it smells good. Sooo many ppl eat meat. It isn't a crime...just our choice not to. And if u want to eat meat again...it is ur choice.

It's all in your mind as it isn't a waste of your time. Eat that crap food for once to try it out and you will welcome going back to being a vegetarian.

After over a decade I had a desire for KFC earlier this year and was so disappointed that I doubt I will be going back for another decade.
The chicken was overcooked, dry and barely warm, the chips if you can call them that would have been cold by the time I got them home, and I live close. The only redemption of that meal was the mashed potato with gravy..

So go ahead to try it, as I am certain you will not get hooked on them.
