can anyone who is a british vegan or vegetarian recommend a good b12 supplement?!
any I should stay away from..etc
Answers:
you don't need b12 supplements. thats a myth.
Fortified cereals, milks, etc. Nutritional yeast is a tasty way to add B12 to pretty much anything you're eating.
Anti-veg people may tell you that you can only get B12 from eating animal products, but that is a lie. "Neither plants nor animals are independently capable of constructing vitamin B12." B12 is from bacteria in soil and when animals eat grass/vegetables off the ground that have not been cleaned their body absorbs the vitamin. It is not naturally made in any animal's body without the help of bacteria.

B12 is produced only through bacterial fermentation-synthesis.
Certain insects such as termites contain B12 produced by their gut bacteria, in a way analogous to ruminant animals.
Fortified foods include fortified breakfast cereals, fortified soy products, fortified energy bars, and fortified nutritional yeast. According to the UK Vegan Society, the present consensus is that any B12 present in plant foods is likely to be unavailable to humans because B12 analogues can compete with B12 and inhibit metabolism.
Claimed sources of B12 that have been shown to be inadequate or unreliable through direct studies of vegans include laver (a seaweed) and barley grass.
I'm not sure B12 affects your skin colour?
But I'm pretty sure there's no B12 in mung beans. It comes from bacteria so it is only in foods associated with bacteria like tempeh or nori, plus fortified foods such as store bought soy milks, vegie meat products, nutritional yeast etc. If you don't eat these then you'll need to supplement.

The Vegan Society do a chewable supplement that includes B2, B6, B12, Folic Acid, vitamin D, iodine and selenium. I try and get my B12 from Engevita flakes (make sure you get the added B12 sort) or Marmite type products, but its always a good idea to supplement a little every couple of days.
Mung beans are not a reliable source of B12.
Sorry I am not from the UK but solgar is great. A bit expensive I guess for UK

You can also order from ebay

It might be less expensive.
I take 1000 mcg a day and it is way enough. I personally tried a few and Solgar is one of my favorites.
If not, you can go to a Whole Foods or a health food store in the U.K and ask advice.
Vegetarian for 10 years
Try Marmite it's very tasty and vegetarian plus has loads of b vitamins including b12, if you've never tried it before try it on toast, use a blob about half the size of a pea spread over the toast.

If you eat 'fortified' cereals, such as cornflakes, then you probably get enough B12 anyway, but if not, then yeast extract is a good source.
