Are you a vegetarian and what percentage of you households recyclable waste?!

Question: Are you a vegetarian and what percentage of you households recyclable waste?
do you actually recycle?

Answers:

I am a vegetarian, (raw vegan, actually) and an obsessive recycler. Paper, cardboard, 1 & 2 plastics and metal are picked up curbside. My town doesn't recycle glass, so we save it, and other plastic, in crates and drive it to San Antonio twice a month, when we go grocery shopping. Kitchen waste goes into the compost, except for produce bits which go into the freezer to make vegetable broth. Yard clippings go into the compost as well, and the resulting dirt goes into the vegetable garden.

I buy just about everything secondhand- at thrift stores, consignment shops, or eBay. When my kids outgrow something, it is either sold on eBay, or given to Goodwill.

What is kind of ironic is that I'm a total snob - my daughter only wears Gymboree and Keds, my son wears A&F, Aeropostale, Hollister, and Converse All Stars. (The easiest way to buy second hand is to search for name brands.)

I recycle everything. Cardboard, plastic, foam, paper.
I never use plastic bags new, and I don't buy trash bags or stuff like that=- it's total waste- to buy a cardboard box full of plastic bags and take them home in another double plastic bag AND paper bag.

Just. So. Weird.

I recycle peels, skins, rinds, seeds, every bit of the plant- root, stalks, stems everything, I make soup or hash out of those things.

I don't buy plastic toys or gadgets. Second hand stuff if possible I just HATE buying a tube of something like inhaler, which is presented in a clear plastic tray inside a cardboard box. It's all for display, and total waste and over packaging.
Since I found out you can report supermarkets for selling overpackaged items, I've done that all over the place- it's not the supermarket manager' fault per se, but it IS a lack of commitment and laziness.

Cans- I get huge wholesale ones- recycle them.
Bottles- I recycle them, and re-fill them. Plastic wrappers for coffee bags and all that junk I recycle or take the old one to re-fill.

New shiny plastic packaging and paper boxes and pretty paper and plastic boxes and bags do nothing to thrill me, and I'd ban foam containers, take out containers, foam coolers, foam boxes in a flash if I could. The trash island in the south pacific is disgusting.
I think people who buy plastic bottles of water- especially those tiny half pint bottles, should be forced to only go on vacation to a trash spot in nature- after all, they helped to build the trash mountain, so they should get to look at it.

If you've ever been in an island in the south china sea, or the south pacific, far far away from anywhere, and you see foam boxes and containers, flip flops and plastic bags from USA wash up on shore, it makes you feel sick.
It's an amazing planet, full of beautiful places and stunning things- waterfalls, valleys, beaches, and we just ruin it. I recycle everything, I re-use paper ( already recycled) and plastic bags, cardboard and tins, cans, pretty much everything, til it is falling apart, and then I put it in the final recycle bins at the shop. I can't STAND people who stand there in the shops waiting til the cashier packs their five items in two double plastic bags and paper outside bags.

Yes I do. Currently I am trying to find someone who will take glass. The top of my fridge, dining room table, and the trunk of my car is filled with glass bottles. I found someone who will recycle them but it's an hour away. Also in my trunk is plastic bags surrounding the glass (so they won't break). I need to turn those in too.
Grocery stores take plastic bags so they're one of the most convenient things to recycle.

I do love clothing, it is my weak spot. Instead of getting rid of the old stuff, I try to hold onto these things. I don't have a sewing machine but there's a lot of things one can make out of scraps. Wash cloths for one.

Vegan

Yes, I'm a vegetarian, and thankfully my council provides doorstep collection of food waste, glass, plastic, paper/cardboard etc. so recycling is easy. Anything else you want to recycle (electrical goods, clothes etc.)can be taken to the dump and they have facilities there.
Living in Argyll & Bute rocks!!!!

Yes, vegetarian. As much as possible gets recycled or reused. All food scraps get composted or fed to the dogs. I never get plastic bags when grocery shopping. I use other plastic bags from packaging, and reusable large fabric bags. Usually our family of four only produces one small bag of rubbish per week. We don't go without; we just watch what we buy and what it's packaged in.

Yep, I'm a lacto-ovo veg (at least I consume milk from my own milking goat, not sure if that counts as "lacto" or not) and we live in the country so all of our food waste either gets recycled or fed to our chickens, goats etc. We recycle cans, paper, glass and we also reuse stuff where we can.

yeah im vege. i recycle everything i can, dont use plastic bags or bottles, dont like buying new things unless i really have to - i dont like buying full stop actually so that cuts down on a lot of waste/rubbish.

I'm not a vegetarian, and my apartment complex does not recycle. It's a shame, if you ask me.

No vegetarian.I recycle scraps for the compost, while other things go in the recyclable bins.

Yes i am vegetarian .i try to recycle things possible and use less no of bottles, polythene

yes and yes

I'm not sure how it's relevant, but yes I do recycle.
