Wouldn't this verse be good reason for Christians to be vegetarian?!
Christians your bible says thou shalt not kill yet most all Christians kill or eat killed animals . fail
Answers:
We were also vegetarians in the garden of eden and didn't eat meat until Adam and Eve sinned. A lot of Christians don't inform themselves of the abominations that happen to animals to be made into food. Pigs are being genetically modified to remove their stress gene! That is man playing God, and people buying into that industry. I guess some Christians are hypocrites and think,"Thou shall not kill anything....except for if it tastes good."
Vegetarian,Christian
Pretty much, however a lot of things in the bible contradict each other.
I am a Christian, and at my school we are taught that God is loving and that as humans we have to be custodians of creation (look after animals, the environment, etc.)
I think this God, who I interpret would not want humans to kill other animals that he has created, is much nicer and more worthy of worship than one who would condone this violence.

Do you think everyone gives a toss what the Bible has to say about anything? A lot of so-called Christians don't even own an Old Testament, so they wouldn't have read Isaiah. And JWs only read what they're told to read and think what they're told to think. And most SDAs are probably already vegetarians, so you would be preaching to the converted there.
I'd much rather that people came to vegetarianism under their own steam, than because of what it says in some iffy religious text.
The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree.
Yeah, christianity makes sense.

Yes, you can use this as a logical means to get Christians and Jews to adopt a more animal-friendly diet. Having said that, the Bible contradicts itself on so many occasions, that you can't REALLY derive any logical argument from it.
I suppose this would be a good way to get them to turn vegetarian AND agnostic in one blow :-)
Well I agree that there is good reason to be vegetarian but,
Isn't Isaiah in the OT. Seems to me like you have found a good reason for Jewish people to be vegetarian.
Christians follow the NT. Especially the Gospels. Christianity is about love, and showing compassion to those who are less fortunate than ourselves. I fail to see how slaughtering and eating some poor creature displays love or respect for those less gifted.
Cheers!
After I watched the documentary films "FOOD.Inc", "Food Matters", and "Simply Raw" I gained the knowledge that meat today is hazardous to our health whether you're Christian or not. It is how they handle the meat and in very unsanitary conditions plus all the hormones and antibiotics they inject the meat causes humans alot of different diseases.
God in Leviticus (OT) tells us which animals are clean and unclean for us to eat. Like He knows bc He created them. It's also been proven scientifically that what God has proclaimed clean (was) clean and what He has proclaimed in unclean is unclean. Like the pig He tells us is unclean. The pig is a scavenger and eats "dead" things and cannot be cleansed through his system. If you google "Gods laws for clean and unclean food being proved scientifically"...you should be able to find some good info on that.
In Genesis 1:29 God says:
29 Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.
So many Christians just eat fruits, veggies, seeds from plants, nuts etc...but nowadays the food companies spray them with pesticide, fungicide, herbicide...you name it any kind of -cide which is hazardous to our health and that is why many buy "organic".
A good site that exploits all their "trickeries" and "deceptions" is www.naruralnews.com
So to round it all up for you; yes I think Christian or not is a good idea to be "organic" vegetarian/raw vegan for optimal health.
P.S. a good Christian site that promotes health and wellness and to stay away from meat is
hallelujah acres www.hacres.com
many prople have been cured from all kinds of diseases just by changing their diet. So it is true "you are what you eat".
No because everything in the bible can be contradicted by something else in the bible. The fact that jesus was personally responsible for the death of a herd of pigs is evidence that would be used against this.
Mathew 8:28-32
28 When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes,[c] two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs met him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way. 29 “What do you want with us, Son of God?” they shouted. “Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?”
30 Some distance from them a large herd of pigs was feeding. 31 The demons begged Jesus, “If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.”
32 He said to them, “Go!” So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died in the water.

If people need to find a reason like the "bible" to be a vegetarian, then they should go to hell.
