my mom purchased some Dole Raisins from Albertsons...she had been eating them sporadically since she bought them, so today SHE SAW MAGGOTS in their eeewww...some dead...some live...
should she just go to the store and get her money back, or should she take legal action, how? What would you guys do?

YUK! Similar thing happened to me. I got a Hershey's with Almonds bar. I never eat a whole candy bar... so I just unwrapped the tip and tried to pull out the piece I'd broke off. It didn't come out so I had to unwrap it further. Saw some white specks... so unwrapped further to find a whole network of TUNNELS carved in the chocolate with dozens of little maggot-like things crawling around in there! GROSS!!!!
I took the bar, wrapped it back up, stuck it in an envelope and sent it to Hersheys (to the address on the wrapper). I included a letter that told of how I'd probably never again be able to eat any of their products again as long as I live. They sent me about $20 in coupons and a CHECK for $15. LOL! All for a 50cent candybar!
So yeah... just to make a point, I'd send them to the manufacturer. You'll probably get a better response from them than you will from the store. Good luck. I'm sure it'll be awhile before your mom eats raisins again. Yuk. It's been ten years and I still can't eat a chocolate candybar if it has nuts in it. And I still inspect EVERY piece of chocolate I eat VERY thoroughly!!!
take them to the store!!!!!!!!!!!!!! nothing to do unless she got sick! she might need to call the doc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DEEP FRY THE BAG,FREE MEAT MMMMMMM
Just forget it, you can't show where the maggots came from, or when the flies were there.
Wow, that's really gross. She needs to notify the store, so they can pull them from the shelves. Unless she gets sick, she probably won't get anywhere trying to sue.
Find a new grocery store and forget about it...
It depends on how long she has had them. If she was eating them sporadically, it sounds like she has had them a while. I would toss them and let go unless she has her dated receipt. Good luck.
P.S. She will be fine.
you cannot prove the maggots were inside a sealed bag when you bought the raisins my guess they were infested after the purchase.however albertsons would still replace them for her either way that is f-n gross
When did she buy them? I'll tell you one thing...if there was a fly in the house, it may very well have laid eggs in the open container and VOILA!
The same thing can happen with grains..one day they are fine and all of a sudden there are larva and moths taking residence in them.
