Why do people eat meat?!

Question:

Why do people eat meat?

why do people kill animals and eat them, don't you people know it is a sin???????

Answers:
I, personally, agree with you. Taking a life (and I believe animals deserve the right to live, too) is a sin. We don't need animals to survive and thrive and the more educated and insightful people who ever lived agree with us.

I think people eat meat mostly out of habit and convenience.
It's everywhere, it's easy, and like someone says above, they didn't have to kill it. I think that is the true sin....eating something that someone else killed. At least take personal responsibility for your own. I don't mind hunting nearly as much as buying meat in a grocery store....

Thanks for being vegetarian. You make the world a better place.
Morally, environmentally, and your own health. Congrats!

mmmmmmmmmmm.......cause they like it?

If you have a leather belt or shoes, then you are just as guilty dear....

It's not a sin. It's a sin to preach your views on to other people. Didn't Jesus feed a heap of people fish????

I don't kill what I eat. The people can do that for me

eating meat is not a sin.
because they like the taste?

so the circle of life is a sin.. animals sin because they kill other animals? that is how the world evolved..... other then that they taste good too....

Yeah!! SHADDAP!!!

why do you eat fruit? When people pick them up, they also feel pain...

If you ask this, we can not eat anything. We may change way of killing animals...

while we need the meet for protein
and its not forbidden to kill these animals cuz we need to be alive

It's not a sin; God gave us the animals to eat and the teeth to eat them with. Also, they taste REALLY good! Nothing like a nice NY strip grilled to perfection...which for me is charred rare!

Why on earth do you think your god put them on this planet? A *sin*?! Get real. If your ancestors had not eaten meat, you would not be here.

Your dentition, digestion and metabolism are all designed to be omnivorous, wouldn't it qualify as more of a *sin* to not honor "HIS" design?

Because the human mammal is an omnivore and is meant to eat meat to obtain essentials for proper functioning of the body.

Religiously speaking, you are all wet. It is not a sin. You cannot point to anything in the Judeo Christian tradition or the Moslem tradition to support your assertion. You've been brainwashed by PETA I presume.

Red meats contain iron and other vitamins your body needs. However anything not in moderation is bad. Meat also contains protien that is good for your body. Besides all that it tastes good.

I hear meat has some chemicals that makes it addictive. So, they can't help their addiction - addicts!

Finding substinence is not a sin! Eating animals has been the way of our ancestors back in the days of hunting and gathering. In order to survive, they ate what they could. The same holds true to people that have low incomes, they eat what they can afford. A lot of the vegetarians are self-righteous spoiled rich brats that have the options of eating the best tofu and hang around the local juice bars all day gossiping about those that don't fit into their little world. Furthermore, God created animals to provide food and to eat meat in God's eyes is not a sin.

The beauty of living in the United States, you have the freedom to live the life style that you wish and can afford. Obviously you are a vegetarian and I respect that fact. However, don't judge others that eat what they have to eat in order to survive or that they simply choose to eat a balanced diet that includes meat.

Because people have been eating meat since the beginning. Personally I don't believe in sin...now where does that leave me?
I would base my decision about eating meat on my belief about whether or not meat is a healthy and necessary thing for the human body to ingest. I don't believe that we need to eat meat, but I also don't believe that there is anything wrong with eating meat.
It is up to you to eat what you are comfortable with and what you believe that you need to eat.

Oh get a life woman!! I take it 98% of the population are living in sin then?
I will never stop eating meat no matter how “sinful” it is, its good for you in moderation.
Please tell me why you think animals are on this planet? I would love to hear your answer!

...You cant beat a bacon sarnie…!!

A SIN ?? Aside from the frequent mention of meat in the Bible, and Old Testament, and Koran...

GOD gave us incisors, and meat teeth !! We don't HAVE the teeth of herbivores...

BUT... here in the USA we sure eat TOO much meat. Enjoy your brown rice.

It is not a sin, most faiths accept that we are designed by God to be omnivores. Humans just aren't designed to eat a diet solely consisting of vegetables and plant matter-indeed, if one does, one must be much more careful about what one eats in order to obtain the necessary nutrients.

Besides, if everyone were vegetarian, pigs, cows, and other animals used for their meat would likely become extinct-as they would have no further use. Only dairy cows and goats (if you assume people would eat dairy and wear wollen jumpers etc) would still be around-imagine fields without animals in, not nice. Besides, I also loathe plastic shoes, belts, etc-nothing beats leather. Imagine top of the range cars without leather seats too! :O

I am not against vegitarians or vegans but I myself am not one. I think your question is kind of awkward. You could ask, why do people eat cake, or why do people eat carrots. I think for some, food ties into their morals but for others food is food. It is just there to nurish their body and if it tastes good while its doing that then all the better!! I just hope you are not one of those people that forces your beliefs on others. I dont mind vegitarians or vegans, unless they try and get me to be like them!

they are tasty

It is Not a sin. After the flood(Genesis) God gave the people leave to eat meat. Before that time his (God's) people were Veggies more likely Vegans. There was no plant life for them to eat so this was a turning point.

Meat (Beef anyway) has an addictive hormone in it like Chocolate. This has only been recently found so do not be to hard on those who can't or don't wish to break the habit.

a sin? if you're going to bring religion into this debate, then you need to know the facts. the fact is God put animals on Earth explicitly for man. besides, can't you hear the broccoli cry?

"It's a sin to preach your views on to other people. "

HA! so your saying the entire Christan religion is a sin?
This is gold.

G*d has nothing to do with this debate. Talk about the the evormental impact, the suffering, the health impact. The ethics and morality of meat consumption. You don't have to bring G*d into it.

The Bible is no justification for eating another being. If you want to argue it is, then I'll argue the Bible's my justification for killing your child for talking back, or the subjugation of women. Etc.. etc..

God Gave us meat after the flood of Noah. I know your a veggie and Vegan I respect that however, I believe you should do the same with meat eats. I eat meat for Iron and other health benefits and I am not giving up meat because some vegan or PETA tells me to stop eating meat because it's killing animals. We have to have meat to survive. If we lived 200 years earlier you would be eating meats because you would eat whatever you can find.
NO Eating meat isn't a Sin

a sin. against who? you? your religion?
maybe we should all be like you. everyone. that would be so interesting. wed have so much to talk about.

I am a vegetarian. However... I have to say, it's people like you who are the reason why everyone else thinks all vegetarians are a bunch of wackos. A sin? Give me a break. Morally wrong, maybe - but that depends on your own morals. But come on. The Bible talks about SACRIFICING animals... not to mention eating them.

I find the thought of eating another living creature repulsive. I have spent so much time with animals that I know they have their own personalities and thoughts... that they feel emotions (at least some emotions) in a very similar way to people. I cannot personally justify why it's okay to eat some animals and not others... so I don't eat any. I still wouldn't say it's a SIN if someone does though.

"I didn't climb to the top of the fuckin' food chain to eat carrots!" -- Ron White

Because animals taste great! How about those poor veggies that get killed everyday?
