Why do vegetarians think that greens don't hurt when we eat them?!
Why do vegetarians think that greens don't hurt when we eat them?
Studies have shown that plants respond to light and music. They grow better/ stay healthier if the planter sings and talks to them. They may have "feelings" and though they are rooted and do not have eyes, ears, nose and mouth does not make them dead. They are living things. So, what makes vegetarians think that they are doing the planet good by eating plants but sparing the animals? Plants produce oxygen for us and they are pretty to look at. What makes them the choice over the cute little chickens? It must be the eyes. What do you think?

I understand and agree, but also disagree. This is why:
Vegetarians are a lot of things, but they're not stupid: they're not just going to stop eating food altogether. For vegies, it's not about the greens' feelings, but their philosophy tends to seep deeper than just "do no harm".
Many vegies believe it is wrong to eat animals because we breed animals to USE them, instead of hunting them and eating them as we need their meat - we are wasting too much while other nations starve. Also there's the factor of injecting animals with hormones before they are killed (to plump up the meat), the cruel treatment of animals in captivity, and some vegies even believe that we enslave animals.
Generally vegies don't eat meat (poultry, shellfish, seafood, red meat). It's the Vegans (don't eat any animal products) and especially the Fruitarians (only eat fruit or vegies that have naturally fallen from the tree or plant) that should take this question you're asking.
I think the issue is not to dis vegetarians because of their eating greens, but to look at the bigger picture; people choose their eating habits for predominantly personal reasons, and so should we judge them, or question them if they're not hurting anyone?
...And coming back with "they're hurting vegies" is just silly.
I'm no vegie: I used to be a vegie for many years, for reasons of cruel treatment of animals, wastage, and basic taste.... but recently have been forced to resort to a high red-meat diet due to medical reasons (mind you, now i eat organic and free-range meats only). My opinions come from experiencing both sides of the coin, my spiritual beliefs, and general research. I think all living things have feelings, but i believe they sacrifice themselves to allow us to move forward. It can even be said that they have not evolved to create great cities (and yes, i know we're not perfect) - but plants have not evolved, nor have animals, so we, in nature's food chain, and circle life, work our way to the top.
I feel bad when I pick flowers cause I wonder if they feel pain...
Protien defiencies combined with low saline levels cause dementia.
After that there's no tellin' what they will or won't believe.
I know....I swear my green beans were weeping the other day..
I don't eat plants or animals because of my moral beliefs
I eat both plants and animals. Plants don't really have "feelings".....however, if we don't eat animals or plants, what shall we eat then? Then, why plants and animals are in Earth for what purpose??
Because they're hypocrites.
Come man.............................. do you want to say that vegetarians should die from hunger cause they are vegetarians......what will we eat then. Are you trying to say that non-vegetarians are right by eating both greens and animals and vegetarians are wrong by eating greens and should starve to death for that.Man you made me angry.
plants essentially do not have a central nervous system. thus, they don't feel pain. animals on the other hand, DO feel pain, pleasure, etc.
because greens aren't animals, and cause they don't have a actual heart!
They do not hear the music, it's all about the vibrations that stimulates growth. They have no brain, therefore no pain. It's simple biology.
God, I've explained this so many times already. Okay, here we go:
You need a brain in order to feel pain. Plants don't have brains. You need a nervous system to feel pain. Plants don't have nervous systems. You need pain receptors to feel pain. Plants don't have pain receptors. Therefore, with all of that combined, plants don't feel pain and don't have "feelings". And, if by the small chance that they do, I'm more than sure that the pain they feel is nothing compared to the pain animals can and do feel in slaughterhouses. Even fish can feel pain, as their nervous systems are similar to ours. You don't think it hurts them when they're simply looking for food and a hook pierces the side of their mouths and then they're dragged out of the water and then die slowly by suffocation? And don't even get me started on how chickens are treated or turkeys when Thanksgiving nears. Did you know that they didn't even eat turkey on the first Thanksgiving? They ate crow. And I hate it when people call themselves vegetarians, but still eat poultry and fish. Poultry and fish ARE meat. Just because it's not red meat doesn't mean it's a vegetable!
Anyway, there's my little rant. Enjoy.
Plants don't have a face you idiot. They also don't have a freaking spinal cord or nerve systems. They don't cry or scream when they feel pain. Don't freak in criticize vegans? vegetarians just because we can control ourselves. We live in America, and have enough food we don't have to eat pigs and cows so we choose not to. Who cares? leave us the hell alone and get a life!
Plants are a necessity of life meat isn't. And all that crap you hear that if you don't eat meat you'll die is so freaking uneducated it makes me sick.
God people are stupid!
It is proven that plants do not have a central nervous system, therefore they do not feel pain.
Animals, on the other hand, do feel pain. And that is why I do not eat animals.
I think it is a much wiser choice to eat 'pretty coloured vegetables' than 'cute little chickens'.
i think you feel guilty for eating meat, for not being able to control yourself.why else would you come up with an argument so farfetched as that.I don't care whether you eat meat or not, that's your own choice. But coming up with an argument like that is ridiculous.Do you go around talking and singing with trees to make them happy.Does a cactus get lonely in the dessert? No.What would you rather do,pull a vegetable out of the ground, wash it,then cook it,or kill an animal, skin it,cut it up and then cook it.Which seems less brutal of the two?plants are alive in sense, but they really just exist.Animals are alive and have many emotions.
