Answers:
I struggled with this for a long time when becoming a vegetarian. I took me five years after giving up meat to finally give up fish. I called myself a fishetarian when I was eating fish. I have been fish free for over five years and am now an a lacto ovo vegetarian. I agree with some of the other answers. If the goal of vegetarianism is to preserve and protect life, fish count as animals. I hope you are considering vegetarianism. You will look at animals in a new way once you make the choice. Good luck.

no name just not veggie, fish is meat! therefore omnivore.....

yes they can eat fish. Vegetarians dont eat meat such as beef, chicken, pork or turkey. But fish isnt technically a meat. Vegans dont eat animals at all including fish but there is a difference between the two

yes!

they are not really vegetarians... fish are animal friends too.... i don't know the other name for it though.....

vegetarian's can not eat meat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vegetarians dont eat any source of meats. Vegans are those who do not eat meat or any product made by or from animals.

no because some vegies are not alive

yes, there are lacto-ovos who eat eggs & milk, and there are pescos, who eat fish, but no other meat. there are also pesco / pollo vegetarians who eat fish & chicken, but no other animals. the actual tern you want is "pescotarian"

I Dont think so because fish is a type of meat I am a vegiatarian I still eat eggs because technicaly they arent but are meat but fish is a meat (I dont like fish anyways)

Pesce-vegetarian

And to clarify, Vegans don't eat any animal products. There are varying degrees of Vegetarianism.

yes

Technically, they are probably physically able to eat anything; animal or not. Vegetarianism is a food and social choice.

vegetarians do not eat meat or fish or anything like that. Some of them do not even eat eggs.

yes, they can. this is a big debate. but there are plenty of different types of vegetarians. Total Vegetarians eat only plant food. They do not eat any animal foods, including fish, eggs, dairy products, and honey. Vegans not only omit all animal products from their diets, but they also eliminate them from the rest of their life. Vegans use nothing from animals, such as leather, wool, and silk. Lacto-Vegetarians will include dairy products into their diet of plant food. Lacto-Ovo-Vegetarians eat both eggs and dairy products. Pollo-Vegetarians eat poultry, such as chicken, turkey, and duck. Last, I believe this is the main answer you've been looking for. Pesco-Vegetarians include fish into their diets. Hope I helped!

No. They have a name for vegetarians who eat fish, pesco-vegetarians. I *personally* do not consider this a form of vegetarianism, as fish is still a living being and made of flesh. But its still heathier than red meat. Of course, be aware of environmentally-at risk seafood such as salmon.

No... fish is meat.

yes vegetarians can eat fish and some eat chicken
theres octo vegetarian people who don't eat dairy but no eggs or fish
then theres pesco vegetarian don't eat fish but eats eggs and milk
then theres vegan no fish no eggs no dairy

Silly isn't it?

Most vegetarians will not eat anything that they can cuddle, so it's okay to eat a fish.

Also, they try to kid themselves that fish don't feel pain.
In fact they love being eaten!

So that's alright then.

Also, vegetarians are quite happy to wear leather shoes or coats that came from an animal that was killed for their flesh.

Nothing wrong with all this of course, except vegans and vegetarians tend to have a lot of gas (which is what the Americans call it) Us English usually say "Veggies fart a lot!"

They shouldn't since fish are animals after all. Otherwise, they could be called semi-vegetarians.

I thought the whole concept of vegetarianism was so that you wouldn't kill animals so i assume that means fish too, but then i'm not a vegetarian so i wouldn't kno...but i don't think they do, although some might

If we are going to put labels on everyone's eating habits, than no, pescatarians eat fish, vegetarians eat no meat of any kind.

The question is not CAN they, the question is DO they!! They CAN eat everything, they just choose not to. I think they're missing out.

No, not if you are striclty vegetarian. There are quite a few people who are vegetarian and eat fish but fish is still an animal with friends and family just like a cow, a dog, or a monkey. So don't eat them! Or a bat. Or hamster. Or an ant.

To be called a vegetarian you cannot eat animals. Fish are animals. Pescatarians are the ones who eat fish.

"pescotarian" eat fish.

no you are a fake vegeterian, killing a fish is no different then killing a lamb my dear.... a vegeterian life is not for you, only be a vegeterian if you want to not because you think you have to!!

Obviously, for those vegetarians who consume fish, another name is fisharians.

No, if people are eating fish; then they are not vegetarians. Being vegetarian means you do not eat any sort of flesh from any animal, fish or shell fish.

Bengal Brahmins( no offence intended) eat Fish, I am told by a friend.Justification: Fish is Vegetarian - treated as ' Ganga Pushpam ' - meaning that fish is ' Flower from River Ganga '.
Any takers?Is it true?
