Let's face it, there is no way out of animal cruelty.?
There is nothing more than I would wish, than being able to completely stop animal abuse. I love animals, I love chickens and I love cows, but yet, there is no way around from opening a can of dog/cat and avoiding the killing of another animal. So where do we draw the line? I do not eat meat, I tried to be vegan, but started to feel unhealthy, so I went back to milk and cheese. By doing that, poor calfs are killed. If I eat a steak or not, I guess it ultimately it does not matter, let's face it, the cow gets killed anyways, and either someone else buys that steak or it will be thrown out. What do you think we could do, to at least change the laws about how these animals are killed? It makes me sad that there is no way around it. But if these poor creatures will be killed, there should be stricter regulations. What is your take on this?

What I mean that calfs are killed because of milk production is that only a pregnant cow can produce milk, so they impregnate the cows over and over and afterwards kill the babies.

You seem to be more moderate ,,and rational,,in your thinking than too many others.(on BOTH sides of that debate)
I admire that,,mostly because THAT is the Perspective which most often Accomplishes something positive.
Radical thinking gets more REACTION,,than Action.
And usually just keeps each side of an issue Polarized
in inaction.
Or causes others to be penalized unjustly.
I have raised animals since I was a small child,,,
for pets and for food.
And I've hunted & fished all my life also.
Long,Long ago I came to grips with the idea that animals are
put on Earth to serve NATURE'S Purpose.
Even in the case where that purpose is for the nutrition of Humans.
I cannot beleive it's Wrong for people to partake
of Nature's Provision.
Even though Cows ,etc may BE LUNCH,,
There's No FREE LUNCH.
We OWE something in return,,,to Nature.
We owe that the treatment of Nature be Humane and Merciful.
We OWE it to Nature, and to Nature's Creatures.
We Owe it to OURSELVES.
When we dismiss Mercy and Humane Treatment for the sake of Convenience,or PROFIT.....
We are then "Killing" more than Cows.
We may indeed BE at "Top of the Food Chain"....
But that's Still just a link.
And we indeed be "Most Important" link,,,
but so much more the reason to maintain Our integrity
Nothing wrong about killing animals, but it should Not be haphazard, brutal, and with undue suffering.
It Should be swift, merciful, and humane as possible.
And it CAN be done in such a manner.
Not so much that the animals deserve it,,
But because WE do.
Actually,,a LOT of Progress has been made in the Regs and Methods of slaughtering animals.
It could be better,,and enforcement could be better.
I don't think we'll ever reach any level of Reverence in the process.
I dont think that's even necessary.
But we could ALL,,Always use a little more humanity in this world we're all a part of.
All just my opinion on the matter.
I'm not a vegetarian but I like you believe they could be more humane about how things are done in the killing of these creatures. Some things that are done are horrendous by anyones standards and completely uneccessary. That is one thing I would like to see changed.
I agree. these poor animals did nothing to us. i tried to be a vegan too but i also felt unhealthy. i am afraid there is no way out of this. and i think that the laws should be stricter also =[
I am confused when you say you went back to milk and cheese and by doing that calf's were killed . I grew up on a farm and they don't kill calf's or cows to make milk or cheese !!!!!!!!!! And I agree on strict rules when slaughtering for meat ,more humane if that's at all possible ,my dad never slaughtered but sold at auctions or sent somewhere else to be slaughtered
I see what you mean. I know about cats and dogs that are brutally killed for their fur! You can buy a coat with fur on it and it could be a cats' or dogs' fur. So there should be regulations.
Go organic. The meats and dairy are from free ranged animals that are not given hormones or anything besides normal food they would eat out in the wild.
I lived on a dairy when I was younger and the calf's still got the milk they needed as long as the calf gets the colostrum right from the first day of birth they will grow up to be very health. They never kill the calf's how do you think they replenish the older cows that die or the ones that they take off to sale at auction. dont agree with the way animals are killed for human consumption but like you said they will still be killed no matter what.....
most of the above answers are from ignorant people that don't know how animals are slaughtered. i know how their slaughtered because i used to work in a beef packing plant.
just a comment ... they dont kill the babies , they send them to veal farmers....
As for you question.... for now no, there is no was out of animal cruelty but by you and otehrs not eating meat ther is less of a demand for it and therefore less animals will be raised and killed. However you a right in that the production of meat willnot significantly drop, eventually it will but not now... but either way I feel good at the end of the day knowing I didnt contribute to the death of an innocent animal.
Don't even get me started....I could go on forever about this....
I'm sorry, but what exactly do you think should be regulated more strictly, as you haven't specified?
We just do the best we can. Being aware of the suffering enough to change ourselves is still a great thing.
