Should cucumber be eaten as it is???!

Question:

Should cucumber be eaten as it is???

Or should it be cut at the top and rubbed with salt to allow the foam like bitter substance to ooze out?

Answers:
To get rid of the bitter taste in a cuke, simply peel it. All the bitter tannins are in the skin. After that, it's a matter of personal taste wether you eat it plain or put salt on it, or soak it in vinegar.

u can eta it as u like...u can cut the top and then eat it with salt or without

We always eat it just as it is. Sometimes I don't even peel them. As long as you buy organic & wash it when you get home, they are just fine the way that they are.

yup... just clean surface washed and dried,, it can be, especially the japanesse cucumber smaller yet softer one wth no seed at all.

You can eat it in its natural form if it is fresh, without skin defects. The best time to have cucumber is early in the morning, preferably before breakfast.

Firstly cucumber is not bitter, you cancut the top and tail off, then cut into circles not sliced,
you can if you wish peel the cucumber by cuting away the skin but as a whole cucumber is very nourishing dont put salt on

peeled is the way to go, then salt or no salt to your taste. i don't recall ever eating a cucumber that is foaming or oozing, you might not want to eat one doing either of those.

Cucumbers grown to be eaten fresh (called slicers) and those intended for pickling (called picklers) are similar.

The fruit is commonly harvested while still green, though generally after the fruits outgrow their spines. They are eaten as a vegetable, either raw, cooked, or made into pickled cucumbers. Although less nutritious than most fruit, the fresh cucumber is still a very good source of vitamin C, vitamin K, and potassium, and also provides some dietary fiber, vitamin A, vitamin B6, thiamin, folate, pantothenic acid, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, copper, and manganese.

The pickling process removes or degrades much of the nutrient content, especially that of vitamin C.

In case of most fruits and vegetables, it taste batter if you cut the stem and the other end off.

Cucumber is no exception.

But if you do not cut it off in case of cucumber,it will not harm you. So it can be eaten after good washing.

You can try any way to see what is your choice.

Some cucumber may be extremely bitter and the rubbing will not take the bitterness out, in most cases it can be eaten also, but if it is bitter I as rule discard it.

My family always use the rubbing method but did not use the salt at rubbing. Some members use the salt at the table and some did not, I prefer mine slightly salted at the table.

As you like it there is nothing harmful but wash it first.

Just clean surface washed and dried out, you can cut the top and bottom then eat it as u like or it can be use as a Salad. you can rub it but it's optional. it's up to you.

Yes u can. but u should wash it b4 eating.

just stick with washing your vegtables.....that is all I have to say about that

all veggies should be juiced, our stomachs are not Good at digesting any raw veg. better off eating organic veggies, all others, not organic will poison you, because of the chemicals in the pesticides...which will ultimately kill you...

you should cut and rub it first

I never had bitter cucs- but less salt is probably better. Maybe sliced and dipped in low-fat dressing, or with no sodium spices sprinkled on them.

I always eat cucumber without adding anything unless they are a part of a salad. I peel them and much away.

my grandmother always told me to cut the ends and rub them with the cut off piece,u don't need salt, although when serving to eat a little salt sprinkled makes it taste better. You can also scrape the sides with a fork before slicing.it looks nice, you don't have to peel off all the skin.freshly squeezed lime on it also makes it taste good

Either is fine. Peeling it will help with bitterness too, the main thing is to get fresh, organic as preference. You can do the top rubbing thing without salt too. I like them cleaned on the outside and sliced, then eaten with tomatoe and extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

cucumber ends should be cut and rubbed aginst the remaining parts to take away bitterness.then the vegetable should be washed and if the skin looks o.k. you can do without peeling. then you can slice it and sprinkle salt, pepper and a dash of lemon drops. this will make a salad by itself. or you can shred a cucumber and add it to yogurt or indian dahi, and add salt and spice and chill it . cucumber or'kheera dahi' is ready. it goes well with paranthas or indian stuffed potato pancakes.
