Vegetarian? Do you eat out ? Have you ever gone to firstfood store?
I am so curisous about vegetarian's eating pattern on a daily bases.
Is it really possible to avoid taking meat chicken etc for you?
I think you can not order anything at restaurant or firstfood store.
Answers:
there's no problem with eating out at all. there's always loads of vegetarian options like pastas and risottos...etc...
they only thing i'm cautious about it ordering soups, and most risottos because they use chicken stock quite often. i usually ask first and if they don't seem sure then i'll order something else.
but i eat out, no problem there.
i am and its not a problem in the least
plenty of alternatives
Ever since I went veggie [ 2years ago] ive never been out of shape. I dont even exercise.
I cook indian food at home, which is mostly vegetarian, so I dont eat out. When i do, I eat at mexican restaurants most of the time [ i love them] , or I get the veggie burgers from other places. Veggie Pizza, Veggie Chow mein.
believe it or not being a veggie, I HATE SALADS! never liked them never will! haha,
theres always something on the menu a veggie can eat so I have no problems with it ever.
you just have to set your mind to it and ignore the meat, slowly the cravings go away.
I am an ovo-lacto vegetarian, which means I eat dairy products and eggs, since 1970. I ask about whether sauces or soup bases have meat products. I can find lots of selections at many restaurants. It is more difficult for my daughters, who are strict vegans, no animal products. We all had dinner out at a restaurant tonight. I live in a small city in Montana. It doesn't seem hard for us.
There is no problem eating out if you eat dairy and eggs. It's slightly more difficult if you avoid both those products as well as meat as resturants do tend to stick a lot of dairy in everything. I can't tolerate dairy but I get around this by specifically asking for no cheese or cream in my food. I went out for lunch yesterday and I had a vegetarian burger with french fries. The menu stated the burger came with cheese but I asked them not to put it in. Most resturants will accomodate small changes if you ask politely!
It is very hard as a vegetarian to eat out. Unless you go to like an Italian restruant where you know you can just order like spaghetti. Say you go to the Applebees, theres pretty much nothing to eat. I dont eat out often but when I do it will be like subway where I will get a veggie sub or Qdoba has really good black bean tacos.
Yes...I eat out..I am just carefull about what is in my food and how they cooked it. It is VERY easy healthy and possible to not eat meat at all. I don't eat anything that walks, crawls or flies.
It's quite easy to eat out -- as other people have pointed out, there're almost always vegetarian options, and you can ask about things and ask for substitutions in some cases.
I went to a 'Denny's' the other week, not exactly a vegetarian place; asked if I could get some sort of ham-and-mushroom egg thing made without the ham. Waitress: 'You can have whatever you like!' It ended up being a mushroom-green pepper-onion egg thing, and quite tasty.
I realise it remains a bit of a mystery for some omnivores, but it shouldn't be. Just look at your meals and mentally remove the meat, and you get close to the answer. If your meal is something like steak, potatoes, and corn, remove the steak and replace it with a bit of pasta or some such.
Things are a _lot_ easier for vegetarians than they used to be; when I was a kid, people were regularly mystified by the idea of stuff like meat-free pizzas and lasagnas -- amazingly enough. Now, those aren't 'required' to have meat even for meat-eaters, and menus reflect that.
I eat at Mexican and Chinese restaurants all the time. Beans and rice equal a complete protein. Other restaurants serve wonderful steamed veggies and baked potatoes as sides. I think it's harder for my kids who only eat grilled cheese, mac n cheese or cheese pizza, but they love been burritos from anywhere. Chinese places make a wonderful vegetable ? something or other.and their green beans are scrumptious
Why is every one so skeptical of vegitarians? Yes, we eat out, it's not like we are a different species or something! We just eat different foods. I personally hate being categorized by what I eat. I don't ask meat people wierd questions like this.
I'm a strict vegan and most of my meals are prepared at home. That way I can be 100% sure that there is zero animal product in my food. I don't eat any fast food whatsoever but I do go to vegetarian restaurants, or places that offer vegan options such as indian restaurants... and i also eat at health food stores and order from the deli.
I'm vegetarian and my family eats out. Be sure to ask the waiter it the stuff is coooked with anything of the meat content like lard or something of that nature.
No problem for me. If I'm going to a restaurant I usually call or check their website to find out what their vegetarian dishes are like.
Fast food places usually always have veggie burgers and fries of course are vegetarian :)
I just went to a restaurant for dinner yesterday. I had a lovely colorful Mexican vegetarian meal that was too much for me to finish. My husband on the other hand had a meat dish that he thought hasn't as filling and could have had more. His dish was one of the most expensive on list.
So they are a few benefits to make it up :)
I thought it would be hard at first but its so easy. My daily pattern is pretty much the same, and I do eat out quite a bit. Vegan burritos from Chipolte are better than meat ones and you get free guacamole!
Eating out is as fun as ever when you're a vegetarian. There are a bunch of cute local vegetarian restaurants for people like us, and even if we go to a normal restaurant there is usually a vegetarian option or two. As our life style's popularity increases, restaurants are almost forced to create options for us.
There are some ethnic foods like Mexican and Indian that are always a sure bet, just like there are other ethnic foods like Brazilian that we know to stay away from. It's easy once you get into the stride.
