Well most people DO NOT cook tofu correctly and doesn't taste right if you don't season it right. My tofu stir fry is the best ! Even meat eaters love my tofu stir fry!!!! Remember you have to season it right! Another good way to eat tofu is fried tofu. Just cook it like fried fish with seasoned fish fry. Well there you go ! I hope you try it. Believe me you are gonna love it!
6 Japanese eggplants, cut into 1/2 to 3/4 inch slices
1 large onion, sliced
1 head garlic left whole
1 12 ounce tub tofu, sliced - 3 grams fat per 4 ounce serving
I put all this onto a big sheet of foil, eliminates clean-up doncha
know. I sprinkled some lemon pepper on the tofu slices.
I baked all this in a 400F oven for about 40 minutes, everything looked
well roasted by then.
I boiled 1 pound whole wheat spaghetti
added all the veggies, including the garlic, squeezed out
dressed with about 1 1/2 cup canned crushed tomatoes and 1/3 cup
tarragon wine vinegar.

If you're trying tofu for the first time, try the firm variety first. It will come in that block and you can cut it up into strips and fry it in a pan with a bit of oil (try various nut oils for good flavor), just like you would with chicken. It also tastes good grilled on the BBQ, as long as you marinate it first so it doesn't dry out. Tofu will take on the flavor of whatever spices, marinades or sauces you add to it, which makes it very versatile.
You could try one of those websites like allrecipes.com, which have tons of user rated recipes, or get a good cookbook like the ones that the late Linda McCartney wrote, which I highly recommend.
tofu pate' or Grilled Tofu Quesadillas ...my favorites....yummmm
Curry Tofu "Pate"
6-8 servings 1? hours 15 min prep
Change to: servings US Metric
1 lb tofu, firm to extra firm, not silky
2 hard-boiled eggs, chopped (optional) I dont use the egg...
1/4-1/2 small red onion, minced fine
1 celery rib, minced fine
3 tablespoons mayonnaise, regular or light mayonnaise (more, if desired)
1-3 teaspoon curry powder (more, if desired) I like lots...
1 tablespoon lemon juice
salt
pepper
Drain tofu and set in a flat-bottom seive over a plate.
Weight the tofu to squeeze as much water out as possible for about an hour.
Mix the mayo with curry powder, lemon juice, salt, and pepper to taste.
If you think about how you like your tuna/egg/chicken salad, this is probably a good guide on how to season this mayo.
Crumble tofu gently into a bowl.
The tofu should have a bit of texture, but no large chunks.
It should not be"pureed.
"Toss in the eggs, red onion, and celery.
Experiment and add other vegies, as desired.
Gently mix the mayo mixture with the tofu mixture and either refrigerate for several hours or use immediately.
If you use immediately, it may be a bit soft.
If the pate is watery, tofu needs to be drained more thoroughly (I find some brands to be more watery than others).
If you continue to have trouble with the pate being really watery, cut tofu into large chunks, boil, then drain and follow recipe.
Use the pate as a vegie dip, on crackers, or as a sandwich spread.
Experiment with different additions and combinations.
HINT: The pate is mayo based and more moist than other spreads.
If you pack it for lunch, pack the pate and bread or pita separately.
Use a cold pack!

Tofu tastes bit flat, so I prefer paneer.
if u like italian food, a great way to add tofu to your diet is to make lagsana.
mix equal parts of silken tofu with caned white beans and spinach and cream cheese.
add it as a layering between the pasta shhets. add your normal pasta sauce and crream sauce and bake as per normal.
i cooked it for a caucasian friend once and she loved it.
The key to tofu is to get as much water out of it as possible before you cook it. Some people freeze it and squeeze it. Some recommend weighing it down (put a couple of paper towels on top and maybe a small pan-- make sure the water has somewhere to drain. The other thing to do is bake it for a long time to dry it out. Tofu that is on the crispy side is delicious and satisfying. A few recipe ideas:
Baked tofu: cut into cubes and marinate in soy sauce, nutritional yeast, garlic, and ground ginger. Then bake at 450 degrees for about 25 (or more) minutes.
Crispy Tofu Sticks: cut into sticks. Dredge in egg. Then roll in breadcrumb mixture of your choice (I like crushed cracker crumbs with garlic powder, and Parmesan cheese). Spray liberally with oil and bake at 450 on well oiled cookie sheet until crispy. My kids love this!
A lot of people don't like tofu because they have never had it cooked properly. It really is a wonder food for vegetarians. It is very inexpensive. It is pure protein. And it is so versatile.
Enjoy the recipes!
Veggie burgers, veggie dogs, and many fake meats are all usually soy. I would try those because at first, tofu can be a little weird especially if you didn't cook it right. For some tofu recipes go to peta.org they have a lot of different recipes incorperating tofu. Good Luck!
Prepare it like you make potato salad. It's good for you and it picks up all of the ingredients flavors.
I like tofu soup! it doesn't have a strong flavor, but it's good
Tofu basically has no taste. Look up a book called "Tofu Cookery" ; I've dropped a link below but you can get it from Amazon etc. and most libraries can order it for you. The book will answer *all* your questions and pretty well covers all the cool things you can do with tofu
