Why do you dislike vegans/vegetarians (if you do) ?
It seems like some people (like the pro meat-eaters) don't like people who DON'T eat meat!

It is human nature to want to feel that what we're doing is right, proper, and logical. When we're confronted with something that suggests that our current practices are not the best ones, it's uncomfortable. We can either consider that our choices may not have been the best ones, which is extremely disturbing, or we can reject that premise without truly considering it, so that we don't have to feel bad about our actions. That's the more comfortable approach. And we do this by searching our minds for any arguments we can for why the challenge must be wrong, to justify our current behavior.
Think about that for a moment: Our feeling that our current actions are correct isn't based on our arguments. Rather, our actions come first and then we come up with the arguments to try to support those actions. If we were truly logical, we'd consider the evidence first and then decide the best course of action. But often we have it in reverse, because it's too difficult to accept that we might have been wrong.
This is particularly true when it comes to vegetarianism. It is quite easy to identify because the anti-vegetarian arguments are usually so weak and desperate, compared to other kinds of discourse. A person who would never normally suggest something so fantastic as the idea that plants can think and feel pain, will suddenly all but lunge for such an argument when they feel their meat-eating ways are being questioned. It's human nature.
i myself am vegan, but almost every other vegan i've ever met has been a pretentious snob who think that they're super enlightened and better than everyone else, especially vegetarians.
I think it goes both ways. A lot of hard core Vegans protest places that serve meat. Personally I don't care what anyone eats as long as they are happy eating it. Unless they are cannibals and then I run!
I do not dislike the people, I just dislike their ideas, and to the crazy ones, you know the ones, I simply hate them for obvious reasons. PEOPLE LIKE MEAT... GET USED TO IT, I had a cheese burger today, and damn was it tasty, maybe I'll have one tomorrow aswell.
I am all about eating meat but I dont dislike people who choose not to eat meat. Its a choice that you are free to make. However, I do not like the vegen/vegetarians who try to force their view on everyone and call meat eaters evil and all of that that jazz.
I agree with the vegan. Most "vegans are pretentious snobs" and they think they know more than they really do. I've heard vegans claim that they dont kill anything. I've heard ignorant spouting like, "if a spider comes in my home, I dont kill it, I release it to be free." HOWEVER, they still drive thier big SUV's and how many innocent bugs do they smash, mercilessly against the grill and windshield of their automobiles? What about the antibacterial soap they use to wash thier hands, and the bleach they use to clean their clothes? Dont those chemicals slaughter billions of micro-organisms?
And if they are so earth friendly, why do they kill plants? Dont they stop to think of the possiblity that the plants want to live too? Of course if they kill themselves or starve to death, then they are killing billions of individual cells in thier own bodies, so they seem to be in a catch 22 situation.
I think vegans should be ordered to eat only plants that have died naturally. They can start by raking up and eating all the leaves that are falling in my yard.
When I became vegetarian, I had no idea how many people there would be who would hate me for it and honestly I found it very amusing.
I think it's becuase alot of people take a bad experience with one vegan or vegetarian and hold it against all. Not all of them hate meat eaters, not all of them will try to convert you, not everyone will harass you. Yes alot are like that but not everyone, and I think alot of people group them all into being annoying and asses.
I am a vegetarian too. In real life people don't seem as nasty about this
but on Yahoo Answers there seems to be some hatred building against
all vegetarians. Firstly, I resent being categorized by what is not on my
plate. Secondly, I do not attack people for what is on their plate. Thirdly,
discussing what is on anyone's plate is just silly. Let's discuss something
else.
As a meat eater, I don't dislike vegans or vegetarians. If you don't want to eat meat, fine, but I dislike it when vegans and vegetarians try to FORCE their life style on me.
Honestly, most vegetarians are very nice, with a live and live attitude. They know they're not going to change my mind anymore than I'm going to change theirs. They would prefer that I don't eat meat, and when I'm at their home, I respect that and when they are at my home they respect that too. I try to have a few vegetarian dishes when they come over to eat, but it doesn't stop me from eating a steak.
I find vegans the worst. At best the vegans I've come in contact with are snobs; at worst well let’s just say they should be glad I'm a peaceful man. The vegan's are supposed to be oppose to violence, but to watch their actions you'd never know it. And YES actions speak louder then words.
They claim their lifestyle help animals but there are studies out there that claim that the number of wild animals killed in crop production is greater than those killed in ruminant-pasture production. NOTE: I haven't seen the study or had time to check it out and see if it was on the up and up.
They oppose war, violently, which in it self is kind of funny. I could go on and on, and it may be I'm only running into this type of vegan, because their out there in your face. But when I go vegan web site I see the same kind of thing, so I don't think it me just being unluckily.
So to all the vegans and vegetarians, please just leave me alone.
And before you ask YES I know where my meat comes from and how it's treated, and yes I've seen the PETA video a number of times.
I hunt and fish and have no problem with killing my own food. I try not to waste the animals I kill for food.
Live and let live, please.
I am a vegitarian, and I have no problems with people who eat meat, because most do. I do dislike the snobs who have problems with me because I am NOT the kind of person who hates all meat eaters. Some people just have trouble accepting others for who they are.
because we were meant to eat meat and then they go and say we are in the wrong for eating it when they are the ones who are wrong
i'm semi-vegan.. i hate meat-eaters who goad you or say that animals were "put on this earth" (i.e....evolved) for us to mutilate, abuse, and brutally slaughter just so we can have a tasty hamburger. HUMANS ARE ANIMALS. just because we happen to look different and have had some genetic mutations that separated us from other animals in terms of brain size and cognitive abilities, does not give us license to destroy the planet and torture, maim, and humiliate as we see fit.
A lot of people are saying that the vegans that they have met have been snobs. I think that this is because the vegans that are snobs are only being vegans because of a trend or for dietary reasons and they may think that they are eating better than carnivores so they get this almighty attitude. I am a strict vegan for animal rights reasons only. No one has ever associated me with being stuck up or snobbish in my life. I think ppl have a bad view towards vegans and vegetarians because they feel they have to defend themselves and their eating habits when they are around vegetarians because of previous experiences with veggies. There are times when vegans are fed up with explaining themselves! I get tired of it and I also get angry that people are oblivious to what happens to innocent animals. Maybe people catch vegetarians on a bad day. All of the vegans that I know are nice sweet and kind. Some are hippies some are housewives, college students. I've never met a vegan or vegetarian that was stuck up because of the fact that they don't eat meat.
I agree with scolex89 thant most vegans think they are superior because they are vegans. I especially hate peta because they are against everything that has to do with animals they think that animals are more important than humans. They are even against animal testing for cures to deadly diseases.
Who cares if they don't like us... It's not really a big deal.
that is a very good question. i am a vegetarian, and even though i consider myself a nice person, i have still been teased and rudely put down but people who eat meat. personally i don't understand why they do this, especially because i don't start anything with them, i just leave them alone and let them eat what they're gonna eat. so they disagree with our beliefs, so what? if we leave the meat eaters alone, why can't they leave us alone?
i dont I AM ONE!!!
I don't dislike vegans/vegetarians. I grew up in a meat and potatos family. I am not a vegetarian/vegan myself but I own a few cookbooks and am open to trying to eat this way but don't see it as a lifestyle I could adopt. What I do get irritated with are extreme activists and people who will try to degrade you for the way you eat.
Meat-eaters are a mixed bunch. Some of my friends had no problem with my transition to vegetarianism. Some of them even go to exclusively vegetarian restaurants with me so they can understand the lifestyle better. I think it all comes down to being a bigot. If you're a bigot about religion, or lack of religion, or about anything else, you'll act like a bigot to vegetarians. If not, then you won't. Some people just can't understand people who are different than them. History has proven this time and time again. Most of the people I associate with have no problem with my lifestyle. They eat their meat, and I eat my vegetables on the same table. I don't judge them and they don't judge me. Why does this have to be such a big issue?
