Are you a vegetarian? Why?!

Question:

Are you a vegetarian? Why?

Don't you know spinach can kill you? It's got E.Coli.

No, seriously, do you dream about meat now that you've chosen not to eat it? Do cows and pigs haunt your nightmares?

Ok, seriously this time, why did you decide to give up meat? Have you ever tasted it?

Answers:
I've been a non-meat eater since 1970. I ate lots of meat as a child, and I found it disgusting. Once I got old enough to cook for myself, I ate other things. I am not bothered by anyone else's diet choices, I just want to eat what I like too. My offspring are radical vegans. That's their choice. They went through a fast food eating period, then quit animal products.

I am glad to live in a time when we can eat what we like and have so many choices.
Most people take all the varieties of food for granted. We are really lucky!

I have lots of animals including a rescue pig.
I sure don't have nightmares of them.

The last time I had meat was with my Tibetan Buddhist teacher. All the local Tibetans were invited for lunch. I brought lots of vegetable soup, but the featured dish was "mo-mo", spicy lamb dumplings. I had two. They really wanted to share their favorite food and none of the other Tibetans could get off work for lunch that day. There were 4 people when 20 were expected.

No... I love meat!!!

no

I am not a vegetarian and I love to eat meat.
I love seafood too. I love meat from chickens, Pigs, Cows, Crabs, & Turkeys.

Nope

I'm not. Because human beings got to this point by being a hunter/gatherer being. It's perfectly natural to eat meat, and I don't see anything wrong with it.

I also really just love a juicy steak. Mmmmmm.

OK

No I'm not a vegetarian, I love my steak & venison too much.

But to have a go at veggies because of one e. coli scare is a bit out of order.

B.S.E mean anything to you?

No, I am not.... I cannot afford it.

ONCE WAS, I'M PRO LIFE, IF YOU LEAN IN THAT DIRECTION AND FOR THOSE THAT DO KEEP B12 IN MIND
GOD BLESS

No, but I used to be. I was a vegetarian because it suited my lifestyle. It was inexpensive and easy to do - I eat meat now because I have a family and being a vegetarian is just too much work I would have to make different meals. I still don't eat much meat but I wouldn't force my dietary choices on anyone else. If you eat meat go for it but don't expect everyone to eat the way you do.

i cant imagine myself being a vegetarian. i can't live without meat... and i never tasted spinach ever since until now....

I am carnivore I dont eat vegetables only meat. when i get a double cheese burger I through the bun out. I dont even like the crust on pizza just the meat. Just say no to vegetables.

yes i have tasted meat and it makes me sick that people eat anmals, i hapen to be hindi hindus dont eat cows, cows are great. people shuld eat meat it is in humain

well.......i was but not anymore......but actually i rarely eat meat.
my usual food is vege....

come on are you seriouse? i have tasted meat it is delisiouse, but thats no the point the point is that it is wrong to kill inisent animals for food. i mean god(if you belive in god) gave us fruits and vegtibals for a reson. plus it is very good for you to eat vegtibals. you might say "how do you get enogh nutrition" its called penut butter . i mean come on some people are so one sided that they only see ther side of every thing . i dont care if you eat meat i dont want to because its wrong(in my mind i think its wrong).
love,
wes

i am because i love animals and i went to a chicken farm when i was 7 and i felt so bad because the farmer showed us the ones that were going to be saluterd i got angry and sad and opened all of the pens and started to shoo all of them out now when i see meat i gag and think of the the poor animal begging me not to eat them

Yes, I'm a vegetarian. Spinach doesn't kill anybody, the harmful growths on it kill people. I haven't dreamed about it since I gave it up seven years ago. No, they haven't haunted my nightmares. Do Killer Tomatoes haunt your nightmares? Vegetarianism is healthier than eating meat. Veggies don't rot in your stomach like meat does (eww). Yes, I have tasted it. Pot roast and deer meat used to be two of my favorite foods.

I am vegetarian since I was born. Never eaten meat of any kind, fish or eggs.
I don't miss a thing nor crave for it. In fact vegetables and cereals
provide me all nutrients I need. I am healthy adult with no major sickness. Spinach cannot kill you, if properly washed and cooked.
As you know dead bodies go to grave....then why should I make my body a graveyard for others body?
In fact meat eating has lots of negative quality in it. Plus its a violence against animal life. All life is precious and has right to exist, as its a God's creation.

Hello My Name is Dominic
I have been a vegetarion all my life.
it is not like i dont like meat ( even though ive never tried it ) I would probably like it if i do try it. But i just think its mean to kill animals just so you can enjoy a 30 minute, lunch , breakfast, or dinner. So all you people who eat meat out there, When you are sitting at your table with your knife and folk just about to eat your stake, Stop and Think about the pain and suffering this animal wen through before it came to your plate. And imagine if someone did it to you.

don't u know the only reason there's e.coli on plants is from the animal crap they use to fertilize them? and compared to the e.coli outbreaks from meat, it's hardly worth mentioning. but, you'll never hear about even 1/4 of outbreaks because the FDA says the meat industry doesn't have to claim responsibility for any infections.

if you're actually curious about vegetarianism, just say so lol.
i "gave up" meat because i saw Meet Your Meat and read alot about the health benefits of a vegetarian diet, and learned more about the mistreatment of animals used for food.
i don't miss meat at all. i don't think most vegetarians do too much...otherwise they'd just start eating it again.

I'm not a vegeterian anymore as I eat some types of fish and eggs. I followed a strict total vegeterian ("vegan diet") for some years though. Never ate a salad in all those years. I very much dislike raw greens including alfalfa, lettuce, as well as raw spinich. Cooked cream spinich is tasty, though.

I stopped eating meat because I did not like eating meat and for health reasons. I started eating fish and eggs again about three or four years ago. I do not eat any dairy products due to allergy (not lactose intolerance but actual dairy allergy).

Main reasons for going back to eating fish and eggs - unlike other meats, I like eating eggs and fish, and also it cost too much eating that way. If veggies, fruits and nuts were cheaper, then I'd be able to buy more of them. Grains and legumes in bulk are pretty affordable, though.

I am a vegetarian.

Its a long story but I'll try to cut it short :)

When I was young and I used to eat meat (except for beef). As my sister and I grow older my mum forced us to become vegetarians coz of religion.

After a while...yes...we did have cravings. We were veg's for 7 years till we decided to eat meat again. But when we did started to eating again somehow the flavors weren't to our expectations. I was actually disappointed, I was so used to strong flavors from different veggies, meat just seem boring. I become a bit sensitive to the fact that I like animals (when they are alive) and the thought of a dead animal in my tummy rotting to digest in there was not so appealing either.

I stop eating meat after two months and haven't regretted it since then. Its been 10 years now since I've stopped. I'm very happy to be a vegetarian and their are benefits that only a true vegetarian knows.

Vegetables and grains are much easier to grow. Animals on the other hand take longer to mature plus you have to grow vegetable and grains to feed them too. Waste of time, energy and resources.

I agree that anything you eat that is spoiled (meat or veggies) can make you sick. So don't think that has anything to do with diet that's just common sense.

I've been a vegetarian since i was 5. my parents claim i decided to give up meat after I saw a documentary on animal slaughter. All I know it, I sure as hell don't miss meat!

i've been a vegetarian all my life. my parents are vegetarians because of health reasons. i just don't like to eat poor animals. they didn't do anyting to us

Good job I don't eat spinach then!
No , I don't dream about meat to be honest I don't like it!!. The only dreams I have featuring animals are those where they are alive, contented and living on an organic farm owned by vegetarian farmers who do not exploit them (like Michael H and his good Lady wife!!!) and will never sell them for meat!!!
Meat began to taste awful to me. This is gross, but I could taste the Iron in it, like licking a coin. I began to think more and more where it came from and decided to stop kidding myself. I was really unhealthy for a 22 year old girl so I switched to give myself a better tasting diet, that would me feel physically better and mentally not like a murderess for eating meat!!

"Don't you know spinach can kill you? It's got E.Coli."

-Don't you know where the E.Coli came from? The Farm animals across the street being rasied for meat.

"No, seriously, do you dream about meat now that you've chosen not to eat it? Do cows and pigs haunt your nightmares?"

-Ew. Absolutely not. I have no desire to eat animal products ever again. The smell makes me ill.

"Ok, seriously this time, why did you decide to give up meat? Have you ever tasted it?"

-Of corse I've tasted it, I ate it for 18 years. Very few Veggies were born and rasied veggie. Why? For, health, evormental/global warming , animal rights, and human rights.
