and you know what so does starburst and skittles its made from the hooves of horses, pigs, and/or cows EWWW i know i was shocked
Source(s):
The gelatin you eat in Jell-O comes from the collagen in cow or pig bones, hooves, and connective tissues. To make gelatin, manufacturers grind up these various parts and pre-treat them with either a strong acid or a strong base to break down cellular structures and release proteins like collagen. After pre-treatment, the resulting mixture is boiled. During this process, the large collagen protein ends up being partially broken down, and the resulting product is called gelatin. The gelatin is easily extracted because it forms a layer on the surface of the boiling mixture.
there is synthetic gelatin, but yes, its boiled down hooves if i remember right. its not just in jello, skitles & starburts have it. anything with gelatin. and glue.
oh wow.. thanks for telling me this.
no well yea becuase i found out at a very young age so it kind of spoiled the fact of me liking jello so i don't eat it my sister told me when i was about 5 years old
LOL! Yes Jello , that is what helps our nails to grow faster and stronger! People have been eating for years for that # 1 reason! It sounds pretty icky but its actually good for you!
Why is that gross? If you're not a vegeterian, you might eat sausages, which are held together by animal intestines. Isn't it better that there is a use for the whole animal and not just it's muscles?
mmmmmm, hooves.
do you bite your nails? mmmmm, nails.
Nope not surprised. I knew that. But I hate jello because of that nasty hard crud that forms next to the bowl. Gagged me every time!
Nope, not surprised. If that bothers you so much that you'll quit eating jello don't find out about government standards in food processing that ALLOWS a certain number of bugs, hairs, etc. to be in a product. Ever have a bag of dog kibble or breakfast cereal so long that the moth larvae HATCH and fly out? I try not to think about that stuff too much! You'll never want to eat anything processed again!
Sorry hon, thats old news... lol
jello is made out of pig fat too *oink* that is bad because i like my pig fat to myself *oink*
chocolate has flying bugs in it thy can't keep them out
yeah, i knew. it's gross isn't it? i found out a few years ago, and i've never had jello ever again.
i heard theres something in marshmallows, too but i'm not sure what.
One of my muslim friends cant eat them because most arent made by the halal standards.
I knew that way before I became vegetarian.
Jello brand is Kosher meaning it does not contain "Pork"
If you already eat flesh why is this a problem?
If you want vegan gelatin try Hain.. I know about them because they are gluten free, I think they are also vegan. Check the packaging.
