Are people made to eat meat and animal by-products?
I haven't eaten meat in a month, (it grosses me out suddenly), and I was curious what good or bad effects it had on the human body. As regards to ainmal by-products, It's kinda gross if you think about it. Like an egg, it's supposed to devolop into a chick, kiinda like a woman's egg and we eat it. Or milk, I mean a cow's breast milk is intended for it's calf and we keep pregnant and drink it. Weird, huh?
I'm really confused about what I enjoy eating anymore, or whever I should be eating animal flesh or by-products.

These are good questions. I actually was eating chicken from a famous fast-food restaurant one day, when the backbone of the chicken fell onto the plate before me. Never before had I even considered that I would not be a meat-eater. After seeing that, I stopped that day.
It's ok to question eating meat and animal by-products, no matter what anyone else is telling you. I have not eaten meat, eggs or fish for 4 years, and I know I will spend the rest of my life this way. I am at a very healthy weight (probably a few more pounds on me than I'd prefer, lol, but that's from eating too many of the wrong types of carbs).
If this is a choice that feels right to you, then educate yourself on vegetarianism and animal rights. I believe in the circle of life, but the mass breeding and killing of animals for human consumption causes these animals to suffer in ways that any animal lover would be outraged at. The pollution that results from these animals that are caged their entire lives until we're ready to eat them is SHOCKING. I was unsure that I could follow through with my decision, because I still love the smell of cooked meat. Then I went to PETA's website and got their free vegetarian starter kit. It comes with a DVD of how these "feed" animals are "processed". If you're on the fence about being a vegetarian, watch that DVD. You'll never look back. Your taste buds will change, and, done right, you'll most likely be healthier for your choice.
GOOD LUCK AND BEST WISHES!

Kracker
what is life? are animals alive? are people? and what about plants?
opinion may make it gross, but reality shows many people that meat is a good source of protein, milk is a good source of calcium, eggs are very healthy (but i'm on your side with the eggs, they really are gross don't ask me why)
eating animals is not only necesary for the overall survival of the human race, but also guarantee's (or almost does anyway) the continuation of many forms of life. think about it, when things become useless to the people on this planet they tend to be wiped out by people (like rainforests.)
you are what you eat and if you dont ,you are not
that means you die ,you have to find something that sustains you
just eating nuts will make you nuts
Vegan/vegetarian is probably healthier, so long as you are getting some protein from another sources, like legumes, nuts, tofu, etc.
Educate yourself on vegetarianism so that you will get all the protein and vitamins you need. It isn't for everyone. Even the Dali Lama eats meat. have a great Thanksgiving.
as a species we evolved to be omniverous, ie:can eat vegetabla and plant matter as well at meat, so our body can handle it as long as u dont overdo it.
As fot the grossing out thing, its a personal matter, and u can live off a vegetarian diet and be healthy, in fact with all the chemichals in meat products now it may be safer to go vegetarian if it worries you.
(kracker probably doesnt know any vegetarians other than the type who live off a celery stick a day to loose weight, no offense meant)
People are not made to eat meat. If we were we'd have internal systems more like the animals that do eat meat! Some dufuses think that all vegetarians are skinny.. They are way off base here. Most Vegetarians I know are big and fat like me. I use to be skinny when I ate meat.. doctors could figure out why I didn't gain wait. For cost reasons I became vegetarian cause meat was too expensive and I found a surprise I finally started gaining weight.
I asked doctors about it.. they put me under Xray and compared that Xray with a older one and they noticed something.. that meat had been blocking my arteries. Meat was preventing me from gaining weight!.. So naturally I remain a vegetarian. Do what ever you feel is right for you! Don't listen to nay sayers. Those against vegetarians just have too many misconceptions about vegetarians.
Fruit is the most important food for vegetarians.
Then grains, then Veggies. The fruit is most important cause it has similar enzymes in comparison to meat.. and no chlorestal and no aanimals die! Oh the most healthiest of animals are Vegetarians... The Horse, The Cow.. you know the others!
Remember also if you partake of meat you are eating death cause that meat is dead protein not good protein! You Are What You Eat! There is no way that Death Can Give You
mental Clarity.. It's really the Meat Eaters they think they have mental clarity.. they don't cause they have it all wrong! They listen to the meat pushers.. the cattle herders cause they like the taste of meat! They are the unwise!
humans can digest meat, but that doesn't mean we have to eat it.If we had to eat meat we wouldn't suffer from high cholesterol, osteoperosis,or heart disease by doing so.We really aren't made to eat anything, what we eat is based upon choice, even if it may not be healthy.Sharks can smell blood from miles away, when they smell it they know it is time to eat, humans don't have that instinct, what we eat is what we choose to eat even if it isn't healthy,as many people who choose to eat mcdonald's prove. The best advice I can give you is try it for yourself,if you don't feel good then you might want to have dairy, but I feel fine, hopefully you feel the same. You can live off of plants, but you definetly can't live off of meat alone and expect to live that long.

No sensible vegans can ever contest that we were deigned to eat meat. Even the most ardent vegan scientists agree that human's are designed to eat meat, that is not in question.
That we do not have claws, talons, or incisors to hunt proves nothing. When early hominids ate meat they scavenged it, as vultures do, using their fingers to get the sinews and meat other animals couldn't. It was only after that that they began to hunt the meat themselves, and only much later they began to cook it. It is interesting that even now if someone was brought up eating raw meat he would have no problem with it. There are still places in the world, albeit they are increasingly few, where raw meat is consumed.
The last few million years of human evolution have revolved completely around tools. We used advanced stone tools long before we began to hunt our own meat, and as such there was no need for evolution to bestow us with large claws or teeth to kill prey.
Simple research into human biology reveals how we are meant to eat meat. For one thing, our body produces hydrochloric acid and meat splitting enzymes that herbivores don't produce and are solely used for the digestion of meat. There are adaptations to our teeth (not incisors, rather the size of the jaw), stomach and intestines which have made a human being very adept at meat digestion. There is nothing wrong with the way our body digests meat, and we are so adept at eating it no scientists are of any doubt we've evolved to eat it.
In contrast, there are many reasons we aren't naturally herbivores. We cannot naturally get all the nutrients we need without animal products naturally. Vitamin B12 cannot be got, even now, without animal products or supplements, and a lack of it can cause anaemia and impending death. 60% of vegans even now have some level of B12 deficiency, as opposed to no meat eaters, which says something about how well adapted we are to a vegan diet.
All other nutriets can be got natually. That owes to that vegtables can now be sold all year round, even out of season, and can be flown into the country from all over the world. In bygone times people could only eat the relatively small range of plants that grew in their ecosytem, and only when they were in season. Thus many more nutrients would have been unavailable and still more unavaillable for most of he year. Until very recently it would have been impossible for a vegan human to live naturally without dying very quickly.
Now, meat makes up for all these lost nutrients very nicely, and it really shows how we aren't naturally vegans, as until very recently it was impossible to live like that. So yes, if you will regard evolution as your maker, we are made to eat meat. (In fairness, even if you don't believe in evolution the argument still works)
Vegan and proud said "humans can digest meat, but that doesn't mean we have to eat it." No, we don't have to NOW, but we have always had to until very recently, meaning his point about us not being made to eat it is false.
Now, in answer to the other points of the question, it really depends what you think as wierd and gross, as everyone has different ideas. I think the majority of people would disagree with you on thinking those things odd or disgusting, but each to his own.
* Goody2shoes2, I think your answer in a good example of the (otherwise inane) argument about mental clairity.
"Most Vegetarians I know are big and fat like me."
Great way to advertise your beliefs mate!
"that meat had been blocking my arteries"
I actually don't believe a word of that. For a start, meat doesn't get into your arteries, ever. Your stomach doesn't allow undigested pieces of meat to be absorbed into the blood stream, not least because things need to be broken down to molecular levels before they can be absorbed. There is no way meat could have got into your arteries.
Now, even if that were true, and it was somehow blocking protein and fat getting around your body (which doesn't seem probable at all, I don't even think it's possible) it would also stop oxygen and glucose and not gaining weight would be the least of your problems.
No, I have no medical knowledge, but even with my limited knowledge of human biology, that strikes as very odd and wrong in so many ways.
"the most healthiest of animals are Vegetarians"
For a start, cows and horses aren't any healthier than cats and dogs and I defy you to show me any evidence that shows otherwise.
Secondly, your logic would seem to suggest that if I was to feed a cat a vegan diet it would become healthier. We all know that isn't true.
"Remember also if you partake of meat you are eating death cause that meat is dead protein not good protein!"
Because all the vegetables you eat are alive...
Anyway, even if protein comes from a dead animal, why would that make a difference. Protein, like water, is a substance and was never alive in the first place. The fact is animal proteins are easier to absorb by the body.
I don't believe so but some people think that the animals were put on earth for us to eat them. Your entitled to your own beliefs.
