Why does people say Organic foods are bad for you?
There is a segament next week on world news tonight about organic foods. Why are people saying that Organic foods and products aren't worth buy? I am getting into organic foods and each time I eat the Organic foods I feel better.
Answers:
Organic foods are NOT bad for you. They do, however, cost much more. Maybe that's why they say they're not worth buying.
i guess they say that 'couse they mean meat-eaters and want everyone to eat meat.
lol
no, not really. i think they way that 'couse of all the run off of polutions get sucked up into the organic foods then when people eat it they get sick.
mEaTs nO tReAt fOr tHoSe yOu eAt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I prefer them also,I don't see how they are bad for,by choosing organic you aren't consuming all of the pesticides.
You will find that the criteria and requirements for labeling something "organic" is inconsistent, confusing and at very worst, an outright scam.
If you use nice, healthy, natural manure for a fertilizer, instead of commercially made, ultrapure ammonium nitrate, but the horse/cow/whatever has been fed feed with antibiotics, growth hormones, and been allowed to graze on sprayed land... which is the more and healthy fertilizer?
The plant wants the chemical, not the horse byproducts.
We have been trained to equate "organic" with "healthy", and it is not necessarily so. I, for one, would rather NOT have my grains contaminated with ergot molds (the original source of LSD, children), WOULD prefer to have things used to prevent botulism, salmonella, e.coli and all of the other nasties that lie in wait for us, but to do so means that you can't label the item "organic-which-means-healthy".
On balance, is the cost of being fooled and placing yourself at risk worth it? I don't know. That's a personal equation.
I don't think so, but that's just me!
Best wishes!
are you sure its organic foods that they say are bad? im guessing its genetically modified foods that are bad. they have modified salmon to get huge fast in fish farms (which are sometimes big cages in the ocean) and once in awhile a modified salmon escapes, and mates with an "organic salmon" and they say that in 20 years so so, there wont be any more natural salmon left.
they have also lost the orginal tomato genes, tomatoes are so easily pollunated by bugs, they lost the orginal tomato.
sorry if i went a bit off topic, these are things wrong with modified food, you may have heard wrong about the show?
They cost more than the regular produce and meat and many people just don't have the money to buy organic.
I don't think that these people are trying to say that organic products are "bad" for you in that they are physically harmful. I think that they are going to make the argument that it isn't worth spending the extra dollars on organic food. I think that idea is absurd. There are so many physical, economical and ecological benefits to buying and eating organic that it would take me all day to sit here and talk about it. Look up "benefits of buying organic" on http://www.wikipedia.com and I'm sure you'll agree.
its good for you
The basic problem is that what organic *is* has been perverted from it's original meaning! Organic originally meant locally grown on small tracts and without man-made chemicals. That isn't even close to what actually goes on today!
One thing right off the bat...Organic does NOT mean no pesticide is used! It means no synthetic pesticide is used. The EPA currently has about 50 poisons that can be used and keep the organic label, I'd give you a link but I can't hit my databases right now. Dig through the convoluted EPA website and the data is there.
Next is that organic no longer means local or small! Over 98% of the US organic food supply is now produced by mega-corps. The USDA & FDA regulations are *totally* insane!
Most organic farms now source commercial feedlot manure ponds and slaughterhouse effluent for fertilizers! I've got relatives that raise 'standard' and organic 'food' animals. They sell all their liquified **** to other family farming operations (that includes the slaughtering operation gunk also). You might find it interesting that they don't eat what they sell! All have 'private acreage' set aside for family members needs. NitroPhos 13-13-13 chemical fertilizer is the standard used there and insects are handled with Pyrethrum (which is on the EPA organic list). The meat they eat (I'm veggie) is *true* free range, 1-2 cattle per acre, 20-30 poultry per acre. In their commercial 'free range' operations they'll have 30-40 cattle per acre and over 300 birds!
Get the picture
i have never heard that organic foods are bad for you. in fact, i just heard on tv from an experienced doctor that you should avoid meat and dairy and try to eat as much organic food as possible to keep low cholesterol & good health.
