Is there a brand of beef/chicken that I can eat without feeling guilty?!

Question:

Is there a brand of beef/chicken that I can eat without feeling guilty?

I don't mind eating animals, but I would like to know that they are killed as quickly and painlessly as possible. I've seen some HORRIBLE video's of how animals are treated, and I haven't eaten meat since, and I've only eaten eggs from free range chickens. Also, does anyone know if dairy cows are abused, or will it affect the milk production? I'm getting by on soy for now, but completely writing off ice cream, milk chocolate, etc is kinda sad.

Answers:
Eat beef. It's what's for dinner.

Free range/ cage free chickens and eggs are available.

You can also get grain feed beef.

Eat and be happy.

Seek out any company that states that no growth hormones are used. Niman Ranch in Northern California if you're around here.

I don't know much about the way the animals are buchered, but you seem to already know about free-range animals. My suggestion would be to write to those companies and ask if they have any information for you. They would be the ones most likely to be concerned about it since they already recognized the need to be kinder to animals while raising them.

As far as soy products, there are soy ice-cream and chocolate products too that you might look for in your local Whole Foods, Wild Oats or other natural foods store. I know in my area we have a grocery chain, Hy-Vee, which has a health-food/natural foods section where they have all sorts of soy and free-range milk cattle products.

Good luck! Pat yourself on the back for not going with the status quo and standing up for what you believe in.

I dont think so, but roadkill is a cost effective, guilt-free solution to your little problem. Not to mention quick and painless...... i mean thats the only way to really know for sure it was quick and painless, but you might not come across too many cows, depending on where you live. but good luck anyway !!!!!!!!!!

It sounds as though you may be obsessing. Do you worry about many things like this to the point of screwing up your life, if the answer is yes, or even "a bit", why don't you get some psychological counseling. Your response to some videos seems a bit over the top. Perhaps you'd be happier.

Stick with organic meats.
May be the companies can answer your questions about their well being mangment & slaughter.

Oh, you don't have to write off ice cream or chocolate milk! Silk has an amazing tasting chocolate soy milk, and there are several brands of ice cream that are dairy free that aren't too shabby.

As far as getting meat from an animal friendly source, I'm not to sure. I know the health food store I go to has organic beef and stuff. You may want to call a health foods store and ask them if they carry a good brand.
