Which animals would you consider ok to eat?!

Question:

Which animals would you consider ok to eat?

Why would some animals be ok to eat and not others?

Answers:
I just try to stay away from baby animals. I don't eat lamb or veal. Nor do I eat venison or anything like that. Just beef and chicken for me.

Vegetarians do not eat any animals at all. If you know someone that claims to be vegetarian and eats fish or chicken, they are mistakenly calling themselves vegetarians.

i always feel safe eating chicken

dont really understand the question but id eat the dog that lives in my street just to stop it dumping on my drive way every morning, wouldnt feel at all guilty about that one.

I'm 'not' a vegatarian..but i see your point..I knew of a 'vegatarian' that said it was ok to JUST eat chicken..It always made me wonder how he could call himself a vegatarian when it was ok to eat one animal but not another.

ALL animals have a basic right to live and not be murdered for human consumption.

uh, mainly social reasons...you'd be surprised what some native cultures eat. However, there is much concern over certain animals, like rats in particular, that may harbor diseases...obviously, you don't wanna get aids from a rat platter...

This is a question that will probably raise very personal answers. And can probably only be answered on a personal level.

I have no religious background so I feel that it is fine (for me) to eat any kind of animal. If we must eat meat (and lets' face it - we must) then the best thing you can do for that animal is to kill it humanely, cook it well and enjoy it.

none, you have posted this in the Veggie and Vegan section so the answer will always be none.

People who say chicken/fish/sometimes etc are not veggies or vegans

I think it's custom rather than anything logical. I've eaten plenty of pork, but have good friends who wouldn't, because of their religion. In France and French-speaking parts of Belgium and Switzerland, people eat horse. Not me, man! My wife and I keep two horses...ain't eating Woody and Sebastian, you know? And a couple of east Asian cultures find dog to be a delicacy...I'll chose to remain ignorant of its flavor. Hindus won't eat beef, but are fine with lamb and chicken...it's custom and societal/religious belief, mostly. The one thing I've not tried, and would like to: rattlesnake. But I'm afraid it would be a disappointment in that it really WOULD taste like chicken, in which case, I'd just as soon have chicken and let the snake live.

Why do keep asking veggies what animals are OK to eat?
They do not eat flesh!

Turkey , contains less fat compared to chicken. Plus, its the dumbest animal there is.

If it has got legs and is not a table or chair the Chinese will eat it

I am prepared to eat only animals I have killed myself. Aside from humans and apes I do not consider any any animal off the menu. I would happily eat dogs, horses, scorpions, swans, bears... anything like that.
I am however not actually prepared to kill an animal unless there is no other food available and as such have been a vegetarian for over 10 years now. This is partly because I am too lazy to go out and kill a badger or cat to eat when I could just cook a tasty pasta dish, and partially because I consider killing without necessity to be wasteful.

So to conclude I am not against eating any animal except humans and apes but will only eat animals I have killed myself out of necessity.

If it's made of meat and I'm hungry enough, I'll eat it.

I think it is ok to eat ORGANIC meat, meat that has been treated well during it's life. Therefore I would eat any of the following:

Chicken/Goose/Duck/Guinea Fowl/Pheasant
Lamb/Beef/Pork
Fish and shellfish

all the usual meats anyway, people don't tend to eat domesticated animals such as cats and dogs in the UK, because I think it may be illegal to eat pets. Swans are protected by the Queen, so I wouldn't eat one of those.

Personally, I'd eat any kind of meat, just to see what it tastes like. I justify it by telling myself that the animal I am about to enjoy is already dead, and, as I'm omnivorous by nature and necessity, I might as well eat it!
However, if I had to kill the animal myself, extreme circumstances excluded, I don't think I'd be able to go through with it.

I don't think it's wrong to eat meat but I still find it shocking how some farmed animals are treated prior to their demise and processing. I don't want to feel partly responsible for the encagement and genetic mutilation of an innocent animal, therefore I only buy and eat GM-free free range meat. Whether this makes a difference to the animal or not is a question we'd all have a hard time answering.

Guinea Fowl
Chicken
Duck
Goose
Turkey
Pig
Cow

anything that doesn't eat you first.

I wouldn't eat a cat or a dog because, mainly I think, it's abhorrent in our culture. I'm not disgusted, however, by hearing that eastern men eat them, they're still very edible and it's acceptable in their culture.
And that's it in my opinion, I don't think it's wrong per se to eat any edible animal save human, but there are some I wouldn't do due to culture (mainly cats and dogs, I've eaten horse, veal, frog, venison, ostrich, snails and kangaroo for instance, which many people wouldn't).

In principle any and all. I'm an omnivore. If I were starving I'd probably eat Fido, and then I'd eat my husband.

Are you retarded? None. That is what the definition of a vegetarian IS. A person that doesn't eat animals (fish and poultry either)

None, animals are animals

They wouldn't. I don't think you should eat any.

NONE! it is not ok to eat any animals, i think you have posted this in the wrong section, veggies and vegans do not eat any animals at all.

Personally I don't consider it "ok" to eat any animals. There are some animals (such as oyster) that don't have a brain or central nervous system, so it is hard to imagine that they can feel pain. But if you have doubts about it, don't eat them.

Why have you posted this in the Vegetarian & Vegan section? It's completely inappropriate.
