Diary products?!

Question:

Diary products?

As a vegetarian, i know of the attrocits of eating meat but also i know how the cows are abused, but I need a diet of diary products. Is there any place in UK where I could buy milk and diary from a farmer that doesn't abuse and kill the cows?

Answers:
you could try "free range" products, but let me remind you that's only what the packaging says. most animals are abused in some way, shape, or form when extracting their secretions.

i know what its like to want dairy (I'm vegan), but that's why you have alternative products like soy milk & soy cheese that most supermarkets should carry. and yes, i do realize that soy isnt for everyone and you may cringe at just the mention of it, but if you care about the animals whose lives are taken for our food (which i'm assuming you do because you're veggie), then take a chnce and just try some dairy alternatives. they even make soy & tofu ice creams (yummier than it sounds) & even non-dairy sour cream! ^___^

whatever you do though, i wish you the best of luck!

a really good site for all things vegan & veggie : http://www.vegcooking.com/guide-favs.asp...

Is there not a section in dairy that has organic milk and free range eggs? That's what I buy.

As a vegan, I'd suggest you don't need dairy in your diet (I've ignored your mispelling as I know you'll get loads of answers asking what a Diary product is!). However, before becoming a vegan I switched to Organic Milk and Cheese. This is because the soil association have strict guidlines not only on what the cows are fed but also how they are treated. The cows will always be prematurely killed as when they are older they don't produce as much milk, also a lot of bulls are slaughtered as they aren't needed. The dairy industry is never going to be totally cruelty free because of the nature of it, but Organic goes some way to making it better. Most supermarkets have their own brand organics but I'd tend to suggest buying direct from the organic farmer at a local farmer's market, you can then ask the farmer how he looks after his herd.

i'm afraid if you want milk cows have to die... cows only give milk after giving birth so unfortunatly calfs got to slaughter.. catch 22

how are cows abused? they have no reasoning or thought process therefore they have no idea of their fate.
Their cousins in Africa, the wildebeest, are savaged by predators and eaten alive. buts thats nature..right.
Cow's aren't abused for milk, and cheese and butter are by products and the cow isn't harmed. ignore the fools who say cows only pass milk when young. they have a proportional life span as do humans. the older they get the less chance of offspring.
if you want non dairy buy soya milk. if you want dairy milk, visit a cow

Shel, I couldn't agree with more. Most of these vegans are nut cases anyway. They are misfits in society so they participate in the cult vegan diet so they can have a sense of vanity.

Cows were put here on earth to provide meat and dairy. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just plain ignorant.

Well done Shel , you sound like your in USA in. In the UK it is the same, we look after the animals and they look after us.

Soya milk is excellent. It has no cholesterol and is very low on fat. It has a pleasant taste. Give it a try.

yep I agree your an idiot. by the way a good diary is letts.
I eat meat and I like it. I fish I hunt and I love it.

Go for organic dairy products, and buy direct from a farm shop.

Why do you "need" dairy products in your diet? There are plenty of non-dairy dairy products - soy milk, rice milk, etc. OK, they're a bit more expensive, but they taste just as good, and after a while you get used to any differences.
