Whats the differance between a vegetarian and a vegan?!

Question:

Whats the differance between a vegetarian and a vegan?

Answers:
Vegans will not eat or use anything derived from an animal... honey is an example because it "uses" bees or wear leather.

Vegetarian is kind of a general term used for some that does not eat meat, but with exceptions:

There are vegetarians that will eat fish, but not "land" animal meat.
There are vegetarians that will eat fish and chicken, but not eat red meat.
There are vegetarians that will eat eggs and milk, but no meat.
etc...

To me it just seems silly to call yourself a vegetarian, but you'll eat fish or chicken... which is meat - protein from an animal source.

In essence, a vegan is stricter type of vegetarian.

Vegans won't eat any animal products, whereas many vegetarians will still eat cheese and eggs.

Vegetarians can eat eggs and milk. Vegans won't eat anything to do with animals, including things like jello because gelatin comes from hooves.

In practice, a vegan (an adherent of veganism) commits to the abstention from consumption or use of animal products, including meat, fish, and poultry, animal gelatin, honey, eggs and dairy products, as well as articles made of silk, fur, wool, bone, leather, feathers, pearls, nacre, coral, sponges and other materials of animal origin. Most vegans also avoid products that have been tested on animals. People become vegans for a variety of reasons, including ethical concerns for animal rights or the environment, as well as more personal reasons such as health benefits and spiritual or religious concerns.

Vegetarianism is the practice of not consuming meat, with or without the use of other animal derivatives, such as dairy products or eggs. Some vegetarians choose to also refrain from wearing clothing involving the death of animals, such as leather, silk and fur. Veganism, sometimes called "strict vegetarianism", excludes all animal products from diet and attire, whether or not this involves the actual death of an animal (dairy, eggs, honey, wool and down feathers). Vegetarians are found in countries across the world with varied motivations including religious, financial, ethical, environmental, and health concerns.

Vegetarians only eat vegetables, anything without meat. Vegans are the same but don't eat or drink dairy products, or and kind of animal product.

A vegan eats NOTHING derived from an animal- milk or dairy products, eggs etc. While most vegetarians will eat some or all of those foods.

Vegans are stricter, allowing only veggies to pass their lips, while the term "vegetarian", applies to a broader class of people, who allow some meats (mostly non-red meats, such as fish, etc) and dairy products (like eggs) to pass their lips. Hope this helps.

A vegetarian is a person who eats everything but meat and sea food. for eg: all dairy products and vegetables and tofu such... even the goat milk... goat cheese etc. But a Vegan is who do not eat dairy products and eat just vegetables & grains but not produced by an animal.

Vegans dont eat mild yougary or any other dairy products

vegans don't eat anything that comes from an animal, they don't wear products made from animals either

vegetarians will eat dairy products and vegans won't.

From what I know, vegans do not eat any type of animal product - from actual flesh to any product derived from an animal. This includes eggs, dairy, some types of fats, etc. Vegans are a type of vegetarian. Vegetarians encompass of range of non-meat eaters including some who eat eggs and/or dairy. All vegans are vegetarian while not all vegetarians are vegan.

Vegans don't eat example cheese not drink milk no EEG, only vegetables and fruits nuts vegans proteins came from beans, like soy beans the milk they drink came from rice or soy,and vegetarians eat fish and cheese and some drink the milk

vegens don't eat any animal product and does not use any animal product. a vegetrian is more complex. their are diffrent types of vegetrians. i'm a lacto-octo vegetrian. meaning that i consume dairy products and use things such as leather (but i have too).

Already enough correct answers, so I'll toss in my politically incorrect view : The differnence is purely in their level of insanity.

Vegans are like PETA vegitarians. They don't like any products that cames from animals.

Vegetarians are rational
Vegans are militant

most ppl I know would define the diff. being Dairy/ any animal products whatsoever, including things not ment 2 be consumed, I.E. shoes, clothing, candles, etc.

A vegetarian eats no meat but a vegan eats no meat or animal products such as milk and eggs.

Vegetairan = normal people with abnormal eating habits and still manage to keep their sense of humor.
Vegan = cult member ding-a-lings with absolutely NO sense of humor.
