Can vegetarians eat meat flavoured crisps?!

Question:

Can vegetarians eat meat flavoured crisps?

Answers:
No you will die

..........not if they're veggie 'cos they don't like the taste of meat.

depends which ones, I know ones like Walkers Beef and Onion do not have any real flavouring in them so they could if they wanted to but I doubt most vegetarians would want to

Yep, Well I do anyway. As long as It says suitable for vegetarians then I eat it.

I have witnessed it...but I find it rather perplexing.....maybe its just guilt free indulgence on their behalf?

God....probably... but why would they want to? I'm a veggie & I think it's a bit strange that I could (if I wanted to) eat things like chicken & mushroom flavoured pot noodle!

lol. Vegetarians can eat any damn thing they plz. they are just too stupid to want to eat meat.

vegetarians can eat anything of everything.
It's a choice, not a condition.

yes but will they?theyd eat anythink if they were starving to death

If they are veggie, sure.

I don't understand why people find it "perplexing". Its just a flavouring, its not like saying I'm craving meat or anything. I can't remember what meat tastes like, so i have no interest in trying to replicate the flavour. I can eat veggie beef flavour crisps if i want, because they are spicy ( or whatever ) not because i think they taste like dead cow.

Is it also true that a veggie cannot eat vegetarian bread thats in a wrapper with a picture of a prawn sandwich on it ? No , thought not.

Veggies don't eat animals or by-products, its nothing to do with flavour.

Personally, i don't eat them, but that wasn't the question I suppose.

( tried to send this by email but the system says you have't validated your email )
Walkers crisps used to have dead cows in them, you are right. But now ( as of summer 05 I think ) they are veggie...the cheese rennet flavouring they use, that used to be the offending article, in now veggie....but best to check regularly in case they revert to meat.

yes but cheak all flavour crisps before eating them as alot of them contain animal fat. Even non meat flavours!

No they are flavoured with meat extract

Yes you may.
It is just merely artificial flavors. It contains no actual meat only artifically made ones.

I tried both of them, they are not 100% alike but not too bad.

Just for precautions always read the labels! If you are buying from a pure vegetarian shop then shouldnt be any problem.

I don't really know about meat flavour crips but Walkers cheese and onion have cows stomach in them

I thought they contained meat bits in them!!!! such as eyeballs and stuff

If the meat flavour is vegetable based, why not!!

depends on if it actually contains any meat or not, most of them don't (just artificial flavours, preservatives) but some do contain a trace. don't eat them unless it says on the back of the packet "suitable for vegetarians" with a tick beside it

i would say no to that one...but thats just me.

is it made from real meat ?

If the label says vegetarian and/or vegan or a reliable source says that they are safe.

Most meat flavours are synthetic but many brands like Walkers may use a powder made from meat to enhance the flavours.

'Meat' flavours hardly ever taste like the real thing. I can remember what chicken, cow and pig taste like and what non-veggie crisps taste like. I'm sorry, but no matter how much chicken or lamb powder these companies dump into the products, they usually smell like a fart- and taste like one, I imagine.

Most crisps taste exactly the same anyway due to the e-number 621 (MSG), which isn't very good for you (and isn't recommended for children's consumption)

There is a UK company called Organix who make baby crisps from sweetcorn and tomato (safe for veggies) that have no MSG or other garbage in. One flavour tastes like cheesy wotsits!

Hey who says you cant... of-course you can... now if you are a real strict kind of a person who just hates eating t non-veg(Meat) then the answer is NO. Coz if you have ever checked out the ingredients of any meat flavor crisps then you will see an ingredient called as pork powder. I am addressing the MCCOYS Oriental Ribs Crisp. So basically you are eating 0.0001% of nonveg... but trust me buddy.... these are one of the best crisp i have ever eaten

Of course you can provided they are not made of meat.
Budhists do not eat meat because they are associated
with life and they do not condone the taking of life regardless of whether its an ant or a cow.

aye just check the packet as it should have the wee green tick for veggies

no they cant

Funnily enough, most meat-flavoured crisps contain no animal products, whereas some Cheese/ Cheese and Onion crisps are non-vegetarian due to the fact that they contain rennet. I think Walkers have recently changed their Cheese and Onion crisps to make them veggie friendly, though. Just keep your eye out for the little green leaf logo!

xx

As long as they don't use meat stock etc to flavour them! If they are marked suitable for vegetarians on the bag then Veggies can eat them if they want. Plus do you think crisps REALLY taste like what they are meant to taste like anyway? I don't. They are a fat - loaded treat so if I fancy a packet of crisps and they are veggie friendly , I'll eat them !!!

I will note popular veg favorites like Boca Burgers come in two forms: A brown breaded mystery substance patty, and a thing that is moulded and coloured dead like a real meat burger. The act of killing animals for food is what many of us object to. There's no harm done in eating something that looks, feels, tastes or smells like meat, sans the killing. It is gross to some of us, and not to some others.

Peace.

No. There is meat extract on it and also, it is vile tasting.

as long as they are suitable for vegetarians then yes

of course but make sure it does not have any meat but besides that it is totally fine
