Vegetarian Diet(Read Details)?
Hi. I'm 16 years old and I weigh 332lbs. And recently, I've decided that I want to lose weight and go on a Vegetarian Diet because I really don't like meat. I shouldn't be saying this but sometimes if I eat like a small piece of chicken breast or a hamburger or something with meat in it, I will either Vomit or spit it out. And I've just come to realize that I don't care for meat hardly. So I want to start a Vegetarian Diet. I'm a little bit confused with the different type their are.
I like Fruits and Vegetables along with Yogurt, Milk(Love Milk but I may switch to Silk Milk) and I hardly ever eat chese anymore. Only if it's melted I don't like cheese on sandwhiches. What Vegetarian would that make me? Also, please don't tell me a kit or whatever like Peta or something else because, I've read those before and I didn't like the info about it.
Where do I begin? I mean I don't know what to have for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner. What are some good vitamins? Can I take One A Day Womens

Eating no meat, but still eating milk and cheese, will make you just a regular vegetarian (also referred to as a lacto-ovo vegetarian).
I lost about ten pounds when I became a vegetarian, even though I was not overweight to begin with, so I would expect you'll probably also experience some moderate weight loss. That's definitely not a certain thing, though - it is possible to be an overweight vegetarian. At first you should probably just focus on making sure you feel satisfied without meat, but as that becomes easier for you, try to eat as many fruits and vegetables as possible, and less starchy items (potatoes, white bread, rice) and animal products (cheese, butter).
My main concern as a vegetarian is getting enough protein, so I eat a lot of beans, and some tofu. Edamame is a great source of protein, and super easy to make.
As far as things to eat, here's what I generally eat:
Breakfast:
-Cold cereal (I eat it with soymilk)
-Oatmeal
-Protein bar
Lunch:
-Vegetarian (avocado and cucumber) sushi with steamed veggies
-Falafel wrap
-Veggie pizza
Dinner:
-Bean and cheese burrito
-Vegetarian spaghetti (you can buy fake meat crumbles that are great in spaghetti sauce)
-Vegetable stir-fry with tofu and rice
there is one medicine called z melt and i try it and it really worked!

Hi, just because you switch to a veggie diet won't make you lose weight. The one and only way is to eat A LOT LESS. That's itl. Eat whatever you like, veg or non veg, but A LOT LESS!!! Avoid fats and sugars, and of course, junk food! That's about it. The most important thing is the amount of food you take. Believe me. And of course, WALK a lot!!! Oh yes, about vitamins, you don't really need them!

A diet is what you make it.They say everything isn't for everybody and that's true.I'm also a veggie only eater and all I will suggest is that you eat eggs,milk,andcheese so you have some sourse of protein.(protein is found in meat and is very important to be healthy)I think that you'll find your way eventually but make sure not to take supplements that also have harmfull things.Do researh on the labels and make sure that it is safe for you and not what some salesman or woman thinks should work.

Try vegan,no animal products.no meat,no dairy(no eggs and milk).
B.fast=fruit and veggie smoothie
snack=nuts
lunch=rice(brown,rice,or spanish) and beans(chili,refried,or baked)
snack=bowl of raw veggies
dinner=simple stuff like veggie spaghetti,veggies and rice,Veggie Delite sandwich from subway,thin crust no cheese pizza with topped with veggies
try and eat mostly raw fruits and veggies.fruits and veggies have very little calories so it is easier to cut back calories and lose weight.
There are a number of types of vegetarians out there... lacto-ovo vegetarians (whom eat dairy and egg products, but no meat), vegans (whom don't consume any animal products whatsoever, and absolutely DO NOT wear clothing made from animal hide), and Pesce-Vegetarians (sometimes called Pescetarians) (whom eat fish).

I would suggest speaking with your doctor to get a recommended type of multi-vitamin. In some cases, too much of a vitamin will actually harm you. Because of this, you might want to have a base-line blood test to make sure your body is capable of accepting nutritional-supplements.
I also recommend that you avoid shoping at specialty stores as much as you can, like Wild Oats Market, because the prices will burn a hole in your wallet QUICKLY. I would start out at somewhere like Kroger or Publix, and if they don't have what your looking for, then a specialty store might be a good idea.

One a day vitamins are made from the cheapest ingredients available, and that usually means animal products. You will have to get a vegetarian brand of vitamins (VegLife has the cheapest).
I agree that being a vegetarian will not guarantee you will lose weight. Being 16 years old and weighing in at 332 was not by eating meat. You need to look at what else you are eating and try to minimize the amount (portion size) and by all means cut out the processed food (any food that is not made by you or your family members: such as fast food, candy bars, soda pop (even diet is bad as it puts you body in slow metabolism), store-bought anything). Write down everything you eat and take a good look at what it is. The next day pretend that a friend gave the list to you and you are helping her to lose weight, so circle the things that could go (that are not nutritious for her body). Now you can follow that list without the circles.
Exercise is a must at this point too. If you don't exercise, and you do lose weight, the skin won't move. You need to tighten and tone what you have left. And if you do it real slowly, then the skin and muscle tone will go with your weight lost.
Good determination and goal setting (make it for two years- be fit for when you graduate!) will help you along.
I am a vegan mostly cause i like the taste. It does make you more creative in the kitchen though.
I agree that to lose wait, even on a vegan diet, you must decide when you had enough food. Also exercise is key.
I recomend trying some vegan cookbooks. Amazon.com would be a great place as they give other buyers opinions and sometimes you can view pages from the book you are intrested in. 1. You CAN lose weight on a vegetarian diet- depending how many animal products you eat. When I first went veg, I went vegan and I dropped 20 lbs. in a month and a half. (No lie! AND my doctor told me that all the weight loss in that short amt. of time was healthy.) Going vegan (removing ALL animal products from your diet.) will help you lose weight the fastest because most cholesterol and fat that we eat is found in animal products. Ridding your diet of animal products and/ or meat have numerous health benefits AND are a great way to save the environment... see the links below.
2. It's really important that you do research about weight loss and vegetarianism yourself. You won't be able to get all the facts from people posting on here. It's impossible. I've posted some resources that I've found to be helpful down below. Check them out surf around. Many will tell you how to get the right nutrition, what types of vegetarian diets there are and which ones will best suit you. It's really important that you learn where to get your protein, Bvitamins, etc. If you don't be careful of that, you could get sick. I know not everyone likes PETA, but they actually have some excellent resources for making the switch, getting your nutrition and websites that sell supplements and other cruelty free products.
3. My suggestion in making the switch to being veg is to start out small. For instance, say next week you stop eating beef (if you can't get rid of it all at once, do it little by little.). The week after that, stop eating chicken, and so on.
4. I would suggest that before you do anything, you should see your doctor. Because you are so overweight, beginning a diet and exercise plan, if done incorrectly can actually harm instead of help you. He or she will be able to give you advice and let you know what kinds of things you can do get you started on the right path. Don't forget to exercise! Also, you should NEVER EVER take diet pills, no matter how good someone says they are or what they promise- even ones that say they are all natural. They are extremely bad for you and can cause numerous health problems. Besides, you feel more accomplished and proud of yourself that YOU did all the work and not some miracle pill.
Above all, remember, you are making a lifestyle change. It's going to be difficult, but if you want to be healthier and feel better about yourself, you have to be willing to put in the effort it takes to be successful.

People often gain weight when switching to a vegetarian diet. You just have to be careful to not eat too many carbohydrates and, instead, eat proteins, like tofu and beans.
If you're 16 and weigh over 300 lbs you've got major problems! What does your doctor say? Have you been fully tested for parasites?
The first thing you should do to lose weight is to stop eating *anything* that contains artificial sweeteners and/or HFCS (high fructose corn syrup)!
Every study of artificial sweeteners has shown that people that use them gain *more* weight than folks that use regular sugar!
Fructose is not processed with Insulin, instead your body sends it to the liver where it is turned into fat.There was another study released yesterday that correlates USA consumption of HFCS with obesity rates-they track quite nicely.
How much (and what type) of Yogurt are you eating? The 'normal' stuff most people are eating has more sugar than ice cream! I'll get flamed for this but cut *most* of the fruit from your diet. Stick to citrus fruit (NOT juice) and EAT the pulp don't just spit it out.
The reason I asked about parasites is because *very* few western doctors are trained to look for this as a cause of obesity. There are however several studies that have linked morbid obesity (You) with parasite infestation. Treating obese patients (who had relatively normal calorie consumption) for parasites resulted in dramatic weight loss Again, talk to your doctor about this.
In the meantime you should start eating two *raw* garlic cloves twice a day along with 2 glasses of 100% unsweetened Cranberry juice (not the usual blended junk) and a minimum of 1 cup of Pumpkin seeds a day. This is a 'traditional' diet based treatment for parasites. Is raw garlic pleasant to eat? Does unsweetened Cranberry juice taste good? No on both counts! Will eating that much raw garlic make you smell like garlic? Yes it will and so what!
You are morbidly obese and if following these suggestions helps you lose weight DO IT!
