Tofurky roast- GROSSEST thing I ever had! What is the best turkey alternative?!

Question:

Tofurky roast- GROSSEST thing I ever had! What is the best turkey alternative?

It smelled & tasted like an old shoe. Even the stuffing & dumplings were yucky. I really don't think I prepared it wrong, either.

Answers:
Not all vegetarians give up meat because they don't like it or the taste: many of them just can't bear the thought of the terrible suffering the meat industry causes to innocent animals.

This Thanksgiving we had a "Celebration Roast" - it was quite tasty. You could also make a nut/lentil/mushroom loaf (some of which others have suggested). I personally like this loaf:

With this gravy:

Add lots of veggies, cranberry sauce, and other side dishes, and you have a great meal :)

Nut Roast with Mushroom Sauce

Ingredients

packet of nut roast
mushrooms
onions
garlic
salt
pepper

To make a shop bought nut roast more tasty try covering with a delicious mushroom sauce.

Fry some mushrooms, onions and garlic which have been finely chopped until golden brown. Then add some flour to the mixture to form a thick paste.

Then slowly add soya milk until the sauce is the required consistency. Season with salt and pepper and serve piping hot poured over generous slices of nut roast.

Why eat fake turkey..
If your vegetarian, stick to real food..like vegetables and fruits..

Leave the turkey for people who really want to eat it...

chicken.

Nut roast is delicious, I can't recommend it enough.

This is one of the most curious things about vegetarians; they don't want to eat meat, they want to pretend to eat meat. Why? If you don't want to eat turkey, don't eat turkey. Have a quiche or a salad or Moussaka.

The absolute best turkey alternative is the Quorn Roast. No question.

Next time try eating a rubber doorstop. It will be a step up from Tofurky

I tried the Quorn Roast this year. It's 100% better than Tofurkey (which made me feel uncomfortably full after just a couple of bites.) I don't usually make a faux turkey substitute for Thanksgiving, but I'd tried the Quorn cutlets recently and they were pretty good, so I added the roast to the menu for giggles. I'd make it again.

None - why look for a turkey substitue when there are many wonderful plant foods out there. Skip the turkey altogether.

Enjoi all the fruits and veggies to offer and ignore the fake stuff. thats what i say. tofurkey is for those desperate for meat.
