Did becoming vegetarian change how you felt, in general?
I am thinking about becoming vegetarian and have just started. I was wondering if anyone who became vegetarian noticed any changes in their moods or behaviors. Thanks.

Consider organic products - staying clear of those chemicals and hormones helped improve my mood considerably. Also no worries about contamination in fish or meat or poultry products. And knowing that you are freeing up grain and water to feed more people instead of more cows, and knowing that you are not eating another fellow creature.
Some of my acquaintances look at me as if I were a martian, some think that accomodating a vegetarian means putting a bowl of lettuce on the table, but that gets to be amusing after while.
I'm not a vegetarian personally but i'm guess you would have less energy as you wouldnt get as much protein.
Read up on it - I recommend the book "Diet For A Small Planet" by Francis Moore Lappe. I was vegetarian for 6 years and I don't know if I felt better, per se, but I was mostly a junk-food vegetarian... it isn't healthy to eat pasta at every meal :) So make sure your diet is balanced, and do some research first. I definitely DID feel better about myself for not taking part in the harming of innocent animals! Good luck with your decision.
well, if you are going to become a vegetarian and eat healthy, you will feel much better. however, if you become a vegetarian and eat junk food still, you will feel drained of energy and in general feel shitty. i have been a vegetarian for 7 years and within the first month of becoming one (i eat healthy) i felt SOOOO much better in general
I didn't notice a major change in either my mood or behavior. Each person is different, so a change in your diet could affect you in that way. Just make sure you are still getting the proper nutrition (ex: nuts are a really good source of protein). Good luck to you!
no, not really......
OMG YEAH. Like now when I eat food, I dont think about if it came from a Pork, A Beef, or a Chicken. I feel better knowing I just didn't eat a living thing for lunch.
No, diet changes you. Cos you are eating non-meat food. There's nothing to change you much even if you become a vegetarian.
Becoming a vegetarian helped a lot of my friends. Please research and eat a balanced diet. I never used to eat sweets, but since I had deprived my body of meat, I all of sudden was craving all these desserts. So be educated about it.
This is extremely personal. What happens to you will not be the same as what hap pend to me. Having said that, yes, I felt like guilt was lifted of my shoulders that I did not know I had. Beyond that I physically feel, and am, lighter. My only caution is to keep a sense of humor. This stuff can wear on you, people, images. Do things daily to keep from becoming discouraged. There are a ton of good forums out there to keep you motivated and supported and I highly recommend you use them.

Yes - It makes you feel healthier
Well.. It did change me.. I became more healthier.. My behaviour was okay.. My outlook on life was positive but it doesnt mean it can happen to you. It depends how you feel.. It is not going to work if you crave for meat or anything.
Well. In general, what you really notice is how well your system digests plant based food. When I used to eat meat, it would seat on my stomach for the whole afternoon. People would say this is a heavy meal. There is no such a thing as heavy meal. The human digestive system is not built like a tiger's. So we can't go against nature and expect to be healthy.
Before I was totally clueless. I would eat ice cream, chocolate, chips... all kind of fried junk food... The athlete Carl Lewis said in an interview that he started eating healthy only when he became vegetarian.
When I became vegetarian I started paying more attention to what I was eating and automatically I gave up smoking and alcohol. I also became a more peaceful person, respectful of other living creatures. Before I would step on a spider but now I just pick it and let it go outside. My moods are definitely better, because I eat a healthy, balanced diet. I try to take flax seed oil every day, almonds and nuts which are all excellent for brain function.
The vegetarian diet made me take an interest in Naturopathy, Ayurveda, Herbs...
I always tell people to read books on how to become vegetarian, educate yourself so that you eat right...
I know many strong, energetic men who live on a Vegetarian diet and most of them don't even take supplements.
I know that on this site you will get many negative comments from people who are against vegetarianism. But no matter what they say, they can't change the reality that this is a healthier diet for humans and the entire planet. I will never go back to that lifestyle. No change what so ever just no meat.
I'm a vegan, who started off as a vegetarian . I have a better outlook on life and feel more refreshed after I eat. Do it right and yes it will change your mood.
Good luck with being a veggie head. : )
i didn't know notice any change in my
moods due to becoming vegetarian but
I've noticed a big improvement in my
health since i stopped eating meat which
is DEATH or recurggitated protein if you
want to call that protein! There are many
things that have protein in it! Grains,Cereal, Beans, Some Fruits. Those that think Vegetarians don't get enough protein are
Pure Dufusses!.However contrary to what
most think Certain Enzymes are far more important than protein this is why Vegetarians should eat more fruit than the meat eaters do!
