What is a vegitarian and is it hard to do?!

Question:

What is a vegitarian and is it hard to do?

I just watched a clip of animals being slaughtered and i decide to go vegitarian along with my friend and we need some tips.

Answers:
There is vegetarian and there is vegan. Vegetarian is no meat, and vegan is no meat or animal by products (eggs, milk, cheese)

It is all a case of will power and how strong you believe in your cause. Now if you want to protect all animals, also watch your make up, clothes, shoes. They may be made from animals directly or indirectly. Remember to keep up your iron intake....you will know if you become anemic.

I am not a vegetarian or a vegan, but believe everyone should stand up for what they believe in...good luck.

Eatting just vegatables is not difficult at all with the right substitutions and some variety.

well,i'm a vegetarian...and,i don't really think its hard to be a person who dosen't eat meat or anything of that sort, anyways, its my opinion..it may be hard to u to quit non-veg

Vegetarian, n. ancient indian word meaning "lousy hunter"

They are basically herbovoires and if you've been eaten meat most of your life you need a STRONG willpower to go vegan and eat a lot of fruits

A vegetarian is a person who refuses and most likely does not eat meat. (Although some do eat chicken). No, this should not be terribly hard to do unless you favor meat to a huge degree. Becoming a vegetarian is good for your health as long as you get the proper nutrients. This is a very good idea if you have found yourself opposed to meat or on a certain diet or training course.

Alot of people do this and fail within the first year. Don't be hard on yourself if you do. You need to phase meat out of your diet. Check out http://www.vegetarian.ie for more information and tips/recipes.

a vegetarian is someone who eats abstains from consuming meat based food... some vegetarians even go the extent of not eating eggs, while more radicals even keep away from milk ( not recommended).. how ever, it is important that u consult a doctor or dietitian before making this change, this is so that u could kno whether your body is capable of handling such change.. also remeber to list down what u plan to substitute with what...
Cheers!

Well, a vegetarian is a person who does not eat meat products of any kind. If you want to take it a step further, you could be a vegan and include keeping dairy and eggs out of your diet. It really isn't that "hard" to convert to vegetarianism, but for some it needs to be a process rather than just a all at once sort of thing. Some people are so repulsed by meat and meat products that they are able to just stop all of it at the same time, but for me, I became veggie for health reasons and just semi-slowly worked meat ou of my diet. I started with red meat and pork because they were the easiest for me to do without. This was when I started experimenting with different ways to prepare "fake meats" and tofu, seitan and tempeh. When I started to get more comfortable with these (which is easy because they can taste great!) I let go of poultry, then fish. For a while I had to convince myself that when I thought I was craving meat, it was actually just texture and taste that I was after and I was able to satisfy my taste in other ways. It only took a couple months before I never wanted meat again at all. I feel so good not only physically, but it helps to know that I am also saving some lives. Hope this helps.

As humans we all omni-vorous i.e. we can comsume plants as well as animal meat. Its just a matter of choice what we want to be.

Allthough not a vegetarian, I would love to be one. A lot of people with heart/weight problems are naturally told by doctors to be vegetarian.

1) Vegan :- People who only consume Vegetables, fruits, I.E. only stuff growing on plants/trees ( vegetation )

2) Lacto Vegetarian :- Everything in option ( 1) along with dairy products ( eg:- Milk based products )

3) Eggeterian :- Everything in option ( 1) and (2) along with eggs or dishes prepared with them.

4) Polo-Vegetarian :- Where people eat everything in option (3) and chicken.

Advantages of being vegan :- A lot of health benifits.
Disadvantages :- Not generally available in most locations.

It may be difficult depending on how well you able to resits temptation. And if your going vegetarian for the reason that you saw a clip of animals being slaughtered. You should know that by givin up meat you also have to considered given up dairy products, because they come from cows that are usualy hooked up to milk machine things that dont hurt the cows but some may argue against that its your choice. Most cows after tehy are done producing good milk or such forth are sent into those slaughter houses.

It is not really that hard to do in America today. Most if not all restaurants have a Vegetarian section of their menu and they can make meatless versions of many of their other dishes if asked. At most large supermarkets you can get Meat substitutes that can be used to take the place of meat in many recipes that call for meat.

But there are different kinds of Vegetarians. Some people call them self Vegetarian when they just give up "red meat" , some will still eat fish only. and the vegans won't eat any animal products what so ever. Most Vegetarians that I know still eat eggs and dairy products.

If you go all out Vegan you might want to take a one-a-day vitamin tablet or at least a B vitamin supplement.

I am a Vegetarian for my own personal health but I can completely understand the slaughter reason. It certainly is way more appetizing to watch a carrot slaughtered then a cow.

Just be. dont think about the meat so much. Think about other good things in life. :)

excellent! great decision, i have been a vegetarian since i was a young child and i am SO glad i made that choice. luckily for you, there are plenty of websites to help you start, such as www.goveg.com. if you cant completely eliminate all meat from your diet then i would suggest cutting out one or two types at a time (such as steak and chicken) until you dont eat any! also make sure to read the labels on food because they may sneak animal products into it without it actually looking like meat. i have to warn you, people will not always be kind and accepting of your choice, but DONT LISTEN TO THEM. it's none of their business what you eat anyways. good luck! =) and dont give up, every piece of meat you dont eat is a step in the right direction.
