I frequently see FD and C yellow #5 and #6 on ingredients of all foods. I don't know if it is vegetarian or not.

Generally I think you only need to be worried about red. Red can be (though isn't always) cochaneal. Cochaneal is made from an insect and is E124 I beleive.
Yes Yellow # 5 is vegetarian as it's just a lemon-flavoring food color. Yellow # 6 is also vegetarian because it is just found to change the color of foods. Im not sure about FD
