When going vegetarian are there health issues that u have to worry about?
This June I became vegetarian. Are there any ways to make sure I am still getting all the nutrients I would normally have gotten through meat?
Answers:
You can get all the info about nutrients and the like by following the links in this site....it's for the Vegetarian Society of the UK...and it's a really excellent site...

i've seen people lived even 100 years fit with being veggie
you need the amino acids, proteins in meat, you can use egg whites as a substitute or soy milk (if red meat is your only restriction)
You cant eat eggs cause its animal y product, eat nuts lots and lots of nuts, sesame, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, nuts i say
Not really it is a very healthy diet but you need variety or you will tire of it very soon make sure you get enough protein from soya, lentils and nuts. Try Indian vegetarian cause the max number of veggies are Indians and their diet is full of variety and flavor.
It depends what kind of vegetarian you are. If you eat dairy and eggs, you are probably getting everything you need.
I am vegetarian (pesco), which means I eat fish on occasion. I also eat eggs and low fat dairy. I take a multi vitamin (one a day brand) to make sure I get all my vitamins I need. I make sure I only buy omega 3 eggs, to get my essential omega 3's and I also get iron from the yolks and protein from the whites.
I eat veggie burgers made from texured soy to get the B vitamins I need. (if you eat textured soy fortified almost always with B vitamins & Iron - you will be getting everything you used to get from meat - except the saturated fat and the hormones ;0)
If you are a strict vegan type vegetarian - youwill have to work harder at gettign your iron and B vitamins and protein.
take a multi-vitamin, and as long as you feel healthy i guess everything is okay, if you start to feel weak, then maybe something important is missing
I'm not playing Mother to you, but does your doc know about your going vegetarian? He needs to know so that he can properly treat you when you get sick. I would recommend an over-the-counter A-Z vitamin called Centrum, but ask your doc for the best recommendation.
Do not eat anything grown under the ground.
A long as you eat a balanced diet, and don't just eat junk food, no.
