Does anyone know of a recipe to boost the immune system?

I have a brother who's handicapped who get sick alot during the winter. My mom has the juiceman juicer. I would appreciate any veggie or fruit recipes to boost the immune system. My mom lost the little booklet that came with the juicer. Thank you!!!

It is said that you can not boost your immune system, you can only optimize your immune system. With that said,
Juicing is a great way to optimize your immune system. I would suggest anything green first, as chlorophyll has a great way of inducing the immune system by supplying it with antioxidants and rebuilding the blood, and detoxifying the system. Celery (a light tasting juice for a base), spinach (not too much as it has oxalic acid that binds to calcium), kale (one of the most nutritent dense green), wheat grass (just a little, as it is one strong detoxifier and could let all his toxins out at once which has flu-llike symptoms to the body), and add just a touch of parsley (highest Vitamin C, but a strong taste). Next would be to add some color to the juice like carrots (beta carotene-Vitamin A ), and something sweet to get it to go down good, like apples or pears (no citrus as that requires different acidity than the other vegetables/fruit in the stomache and could cause a stomach ache). I like to also add a banana if you want to make it more of a smoothie, but do that in the blender, not the juicer (very messy!).

I don't have the book, sorry--my dad used to make us kale and carrots--eeewp!

but fyi
garlic boosts the immune system. in my family when sickness comes around, we chew raw garlic and wash it down with warm water. your pores start to smell garlicky after a day or two, but it really works.

Well I have been suffering from hay fever since I am a little boy.
I have tried many kinds of medicine and home remedies but none of them worked properly. But last year, I read Dr.Fuhrman's book which includes a completely vegan diet. I applied the diet for just two weeks. And although I smoked during those two weeks, all the symptoms of hay*fever just faded away. So I advice you to get his book. I am sure it will work.

no i dont sry

You'll want to get some yogurt with active cultures in it because it contains acidophilus which is good for the immune system.
Actually, if you blend up some yogurt, fruit, juice, and ice, it makes a nice smoothie for breakfast.
You can also get acidophilus in capsules from health food stores if that is easier.

I don't know about recipes.

But...the three top immune system boosters are
Garlic
Shiitake mushrooms
And Vitamin C which can come from a variety of fruits and vegetables.

How about making a stirfry from the first two and serve it with a fruit smoothie.

I rely on Echinaccea and Flax seed. Flax seeds need to be crushed before use, and are good in grainy foods, like oatmeal, or in baked goods. Echinaccea is good in teas, but may also be taken in pill form. (acually both can be taken in pill form)
I find if I take large doses of both just as I start feeling that scratchy feeling in the back of my throat, the cold or flu is avoided. If taken a day later it is too late.
