Are all refried beans non-vegetarian (fried in lard)?!

Question:

Are all refried beans non-vegetarian (fried in lard)?

Answers:
There are vegetarian refried beans on the market in cans. I eat those all the time. I believe they're by Rosalita, but don't remember for sure.

Most. You have to check the labels.

I believe so... Rosarita and Ortega, both national brands, had lard in it the last time I checked, a few years back.

there are vegetarian refried beans, old alpaso makes some.

It may depend on the brand.

My home cooked ones are.

No they are not all fried in lard. When you go to the supermarket, just read ingredients. It is very easy to find ones that are Veg. friendly.

unless they say vegetarian blend, then I'm sure they have a trace of lard in it.

They shouldn't be. Look for the ones that specifically say fried in veggie oil. If they fry in lard, they are not vegetarian.
