Vegetarianism?!
Vegetarianism?
God created us to be omnivores. He told us it is OK to eat all kinds of things: Acts 10:11; 11:5. He must be secretly trying to kill us off?
Answers:
The Buddha promotes compassion for all creatures. This means that factory farming is not a good way to raise animals as it is quite cruel. The karmic repercussions of which could be a heart attack... Also, the bible says "behold I have given you every seed bearing plant and for you it shall be food. The bible talks about people living hundreds of years, not 70. Our disregard for the well being of the earth and it's other inhabitants my have shortend our lifespans just a wee bit.
plenty of folks dont believe in your god.
not that every vegetarian is religious
Save a cow, eat an vegetarian!
I think that you are wrong, why do you bring religion into it? Most people (like me) are vegetarian by choice! I choose to be vegetarian because I can not stand the way meat tastes, feels, smells, or even looks. I eat it only if I have to (like when I am pregnant) and if i do, it has to be slathered in sauce so I can not taste it!! I also do not like how the animals are slaughtered, it is a cruel thing for them to do it the way it is done!! That is my sight to this issue, so I hope that it helps you! Good luck!
I am an atheist vegetarian thank you very much
Did God tell you this personally? it was people, not God who wrote the bible, i wouldn't take it too literally if i were you!
it is ok to eat most thingz.
it's just that not all things are healthy for you to eat on a regular basis. HE gives you leeway by allowing you to consume anything not "harmful" to your body.
(obviously excluding alcohol, or cigarette smoke.)
however, it's a personal choice not to die early. People who are omnivores don't die simply because they are omnivores. They die because of unhealthy eating habits.
Yes, well God also gave us vegtables, beans, fruits, etc. to consume. Back when God created animals he probably didn't intend for them to be given steroids, anti-biotics, other chemicals that are unhealthy for us & causing cancer & other medical problems. He probably didn't expect that they would be cruely tortured before they are turned into food either.
Go to goveg.com and do some educated research on why people choose this lifestyle. Vegetarians are healthier, typically live longer, have less medical problems, & give life by not taking it.
I'm not a Christian but I've looked this up for past questions that were pretty much exactly the same as yours.
In Genesis God does not include animals in what is to be eaten. Only after humans mess up are animals included in human diets.
IMO, it makes sence to strive to create a wold that is pre-humans messing up if your a Christian. This includes not eating meat.
Since you are obviously Christian, try this (All verse references are from the NKJV):
"And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food."
Notice, nothing about meat. And it doesn't say anything about meat until Genesis 9:1-3 " 1 So God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them: “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth.[a] 2 And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be on every beast of the earth, on every bird of the air, on all that move on the earth, and on all the fish of the sea. They are given into your hand. 3 Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green herbs." Is it not apparent that man was vegetarian until after the flood, by God's command?
Now, read Daniel 1. Daniel and his three firends eat nothing but vegetables and water. What is the result? Verse 15: "And at the end of ten days their features appeared better and fatter in flesh than all the young men who ate the portion of the king’s delicacies."
So, is it not apparent that there is nothing wrong with being vegetarian? I wish Christians would quit judging us vegetarians just because we do not eat meat!
Good.. Then go be happy with your slaughtered rotting animal flesh.
some do it for health reasons. the lord gives us choices and this is one of them: eat meat or not eat meat?
some choose not too and some choose to.
but really...think about all that fat and cholestrol and growth horomones that a meat eater consumes through meat
I'm Jewish, so I do not care about your theories. However, I'm not vegetarian, so whatever.
Did he tell you this personally?
If God really did write the bible, remember that it was written through a man not by God personally. And many times throughout history men have changed the bible to adapt their views.
If you believe in the same God you speak of, you are referring to the verse that (in a nutshell) states that man has dominion over animals, why dont you take that to believe that we are also said to PROTECT these animals?
If we are to care for what God gave us dominion over, wouldnt that include making sure they are not being inhumanely killed?
I take that verse to mean just that. We are here to CARE for the animals God has put on the earth. This means, in my own case, I choose not to eat, kill, torture, scare, or harm the animals God put on the earth. I choose to be a caretaker of the creatures he has bestowed upon me.
God's original diet is found in Genesis 1:29 & 30 God knew what was BEST for us. He also knew in His alknowing wisdom that we WOULD eat meat eventually so He gave us the teeth we would need for any circumstance. Vegitarians live longer healthier lives. See National Geographic November 2005 issue.
I am vegetarian, and also Christian.
I think that just because God provides animals for us to eat, doesn't mean that we have to. Remember, He also gives us free will. So, its you're choice...to eat meat, or not to eat meat?
Many people do not believe in God. Many vegetarian Christians believe that God does not really want us to eat animals, but is allowing us too because it is very hard for humans to resist temptation.
Im christian and im vegan.I think we have the choice to make whether we want to eat meat.
There is evidence showing that vegetarians and vegans are healthier than meat-eaters, but there is no evidence proving there is a god.
