No you can not eat beef if you are a vegetarian. It is a meat.
Most vegetarians do not eat beef....that really defeats the purpose of being a vegetarian anyways....but it is each persons choice and you are entitled to make your own decision.

"Vegetarian" is simply a label that is applied to those of us who do not eat meat. When one calls him/herself a vegetarian why do we need to be so strict about it's application? Who cares?
Call yourself a vegetarian if you eat meat, call yourself a fish, bird or whatever you want.
I am a human who refuses to eat flesh. If a friend tells me he/she is vegetarian, I don't delve any further. Hide in the closet and eat your beef, call yourself a vegetarian, just be happy.
I have not eaten flesh for 17 years, but I eat things that are not vegetables (cheese) - so am I not a vegetarian?
