Since when have there been meat products in marshmallows?

source veggie marshmallows? what?

Some marshmallows marketed as appropriate for vegans are made using carrageenan and agar as gelling agents.
There are souces for marshmallows. Here is one.

Go to oriental shops and look for rice candy, which looks and tastes like marshmallows.

most contain gelatine from boiled bones. not many people know that! lots of sweets contain this meat product.

Regular marshmallows contain gelatin. Any Jewish kosher store should carry something as they don't use ingredients containing pork etc.

I did a quick on line search and found this link, also included one of my favorite links for the future.

I think this is your best bet:

However, if you are ovo-lacto, you might want to try marshmallow creme, which does not contain gelatin but does contain egg whites.

Most marshmallows contain gelatin made from animal bones. Kosher gelatin is often made from fish. Jewish dietary restrictions prohibit not only the consumption of pork, but also the mixing of meat and milk in the same meal. So it seems like this is a good short cut, because if something is Kosher dairy, it doesn't contain meat, right? That would be correct except that FISH and EGGS are considered parve, which means that they can go with either meat or milk. Hence, the kosher dairy/parve shortcut only works if you don't mind fish.

If you're in the UK, try veganstore.co.uk (link below).

I'm disappointed with the number of sarcastic answers to this question. People who use this facility to ask genuine questions deserve to get genuine answers. If you don't know the answer, then don't bother posting a wisecrack remark which just makes you look a little bit dim. If you read the ingredients on marshmallows and a lot of other sweet products, you'll find that not only do they contain gelatine (made from animal skin, bones, ligaments, etc) but also cochineal (can be made from insect bodies), shellac (made from insect wings), and other delightful sounding ingredients (see 2nd link below).

thank you!

You can also try Kosher stores or Kosher sections of supermarkets.

I asked this question a couple of days a go:

Here is one of the answers i got ( Thansk Whoosher ) , but you might want to look through the other answers as there were recipies and links there:

Try VeganStore.co.uk (link below). They have the same sweets as advertised on the American sites, although they're a bit more expensive - £5.99 compared with $3.79!! However, you get Brownie points (or should that be Greenie points?!) for the lower food miles if you order within the UK ;-)
