Will I loose weight with this dietary plan?
I am going to start this new diet. It says that you can loose 10-17 pounds in a week. Here is what it includes:
Soup (You make this soup yourself):
6 Large Green Onions
2 Green Peppers
One (1) 28oz Crushed Tomatoes
1 Bunch of Celery
1 Package of Lipton Onion Soup Mix
1-2 cubes of chicken bouillon
Head of Cabbage
Cereal:
Special K (Vanilla Almond) w/ skim milk
Drink:
Skim milk, Water, Cranberry Juice
Fruit:
Any fruit except bananas
NO!!!!:
Carbonated drinks, sugar, sweets, meat, and fried foods!
The soup you eat everyday. As much as you want..whenever you want..anytime of the day. They said the more soup you eat, the more you will loose.
So do you think I can loose weight by only eating these things in good portions + exercise? Thanks for you answers!
PS: The soup is kinda like that soup in the Cabbage Soup Diet people do and I know that works well

going on a diet can be a really positive thing for you,but you don't want to just go on a diet and only eat certain foods from time X to time Y,you should rather try to establish a healthy lifestyle,which is what veganism has done for me.you should try to change your eating habits forever,not just for a certain period of time.Some of the best advice and tips i can give you is
1.stick to drinking water
2.don't get discouraged,if you cheat once on your diet that doesn't ruin the progress you have made
3.have one cheat day,eat what you want one day out of the week,it can make dieting that much easier and it helps prevent plateau's during weight loss
4.write down what you eat every day,keep track of what you are eating
5.stay away from processed foods
6.exercise can greatly help you lose weight and help establish a healthy lifetstyle,be like jared from subway and walk to subway and get a veggie delite sandwich, or walk the dog, do anything that will help you live an active lifetstyle
7.invest in a treadmill,put it in fromt of a tv,anytime you plan on watching tv for more than 45 minutes you should walk while watching tv
8.don't think of the foods you can't eat like ice cream,soda,fried foods,but rather think of the foods you CAN eat like your favorite fruits and veggies
9.don't go for quick weight loss,go for PERMANET weight loss,97% of the people who lose weight gain it back
10.Eat 5-6 small meals a day,it keeps your metabolism constantly working throughout the day,a common comparison to that is think of a wood burning fire,what is better for the fire,adding wood constantly to keep it burning,or piling a bunch of logs on it at once,the first works better,just as it will for your metabolism
if you hate counting calories,then maybe you should give raw veganism a try,I've read many people's comments about how they lost weight but they still ate as much as they wanted,here is a blog i read that featured three diets on "the tyra banks show" episode,one of the diets was raw veganism

Eating a low-fat vegan diet may be better at managing type 2 diabetes than traditional diets, according to a new study.
Researchers found 43 percent of people with type 2 diabetes who followed a low-fat vegan diet for 22 weeks reduced their need to take medications to manage their disease compared with 26 percent of those who followed the diet recommended by the American Diabetes Association (ADA).
In addition, participants who followed the vegan diet experienced greater reductions in cholesterol levels and weight loss than those on the other diet.
A vegan diet is plant-based and consists of vegetables, fruits, grains, and legumes and avoids animal products, such as meat and dairy. People who are on a vegan diet are at risk for vitamin B12 deficiency, and so B12 vitamins were given to the participants on that diet.
"The diet appears remarkably effective, and all the side effects are good ones -- especially weight loss and lower cholesterol," says researcher Neal D. Barnard, MD, adjunct associate professor of medicine at the George Washington University, in a news release. "I hope this study will rekindle interest in using diet changes first, rather than prescription drugs."
Barnard is also president of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, a nonprofit health organization that opposes animal research and advocates a vegan diet.
Vegan Vs. ADA Diet For Diabetes
In the study, published in the journal Diabetes Care, researchers compared the effects of following a low-fat vegan diet and the ADA diet on reducing the need for drugs to manage diabetes, kidney function, cholesterol levels, and weight loss in 99 adults with type 2 diabetes. Meals were not provided, but participants met a dietitian to come up with a diet plan and then met regularly each week for nutrition and cooking instruction.
Forty-nine of the participants followed a low-fat vegan diet consisting of about 10 percent of daily calories from fat, 15 percent protein, and 75 percent carbohydrates. They were asked to avoid animal products and added fats and instead favor foods like beans and green vegetables, but portion sizes and total daily calories or food intake were unrestricted.
The other 50 participants followed the dietary guidelines recommended by the ADA, including 15-20 percent protein, 60-70 percent carbohydrates and monosaturated fats (such as olive oil), and less than 7 percent saturated fats (such as animal fats and butter). Total cholesterol was also limited to 200 milligrams or less per day.
Overweight participants in the ADA diet group were also advised to reduce daily calorie intake by 500-1,000 calories per day.
The results showed that both diets improved diabetes management and reduced unhealthy cholesterol levels, but some improvements were greater with the low-fat vegan diet.
For example:
43 percent of those on the vegan diet reduced their need to take drugs to manage their diabetes compared with 26 percent of the ADA diet group.
Weight loss averaged more than 14 pounds in the vegan diet group vs. less than 7 pounds in the other group.
LDL "bad" cholesterol dropped by an average of 21 percent in the vegan group compared with 11 percent in the ADA diet group who did not change their cholesterol drug use.
Measures of blood sugar control also improved more significantly among those who followed the low-fat vegan diet than among those who followed the ADA diet and who did not change their diabetes drug use.
Researchers say the vegan diet represents a major change from current diabetes diets because there are no limits on calories, carbohydrates, and portions, which may make it easier for some people to follow. Talk to your doctor about what diet changes you might consider to help with diabetes or other medical conditions.

iyt matters how much you weigh so i don`t know if your big then do it . if your pants rip when you bend down then do it
Go see a dietitian. Fad diets are either full of it (and unhealthy) or short term weight loss (you could easily gain it back). There is no quick fix for loosing weight.
It is not good for your body to drop that much weight that quickly.
It will might work, but the weight will come back after you stop the diet.
Studies have shown that "yo-yo" dieting is harder on your body than being too heavy or too thin.

sounds really promising. my mom does the cabbage diet from time to time and it works. i love cabbage. guess you would have to. ha! i wonder why any fruit except bananas? that is strange. not all cranberry juice is ideal..some are full of sugar..be careful. but, you are on the right track.
Any diet that limits your calorie intake and is not based on mayonaise or bacon will cause you to lose weight in the short term.
There are a lot of other diets that will work better and taste a lot better than eating the same kind of soup everyday. And be a lot better for you.
Cut out the fat and processed foods and go for a walk once in a while and you can eat pretty much what you want.
Yes, you will lose weight -- at first. After that, you'll get sick of the soup and go back to the old eating habits.
Look at something like a glycemic index diet (diabetics use it) that allows you to control your sugar levels, fat, carbs (good vs. bad), protein and you can eat a great variety of great food while losing weight.
If you want to lose weight safely and in an efficient way, You should not go with diets that will make you lose 10 pounds in one week.
You will gain it all back and you will totally throw your metabolism out of balance. The maximum weight a person should lose is about
5 pounds a week. Crash diets are a recipe for disaster. As another person suggested, go see a dietitian.

The reason this "diet" causes you to lose weight is you burn your muscle for energy. There is not enough protein in this diet to maintain normal muscle mass. Muscles are where fat gets burned. So w/o muscle, yes, you may lose some "weight" but not the kind you want.
I think the "avoid" list is probably a really good idea, and the soup sounds pretty good. But I would add some lean meat (chicken, turkey, fish, beef) as well and you shoudl be alright. Vary your fruits and veggies, too, so you dont' get bored and have a varity of nutrients.

Where are you planning to get your protein and healthy fats? I think this is a RIDICULOUS idea, but I have to add that I would never consider eating this without adding some beans or lentils to the soup and drizzling each serving with olive oil. By the way, it would be a lot healthier to skip the Lipton soup mix (mmmm... processed chemicals!) and use a homemade stock instead.
You will lose weight if your calories in are less than your calories expended. Cut (or burn) 3,500 calories and you'll lose a pound. Very simple. Hard part is moderation and finding time to exercise...

yes, you can. if you can stand with this kind of food for one week, it is possible to lose 10 to 20 lbs per week, trust me. but must keep follow this recipe.
I have made this soup before, tried a seven day program with my Mom. We did great, for the first half of the day, but when my husband and my Dad started bbq'ing steaks, for dinner we caved. :) For the soup recipe...(I guess I should get to the point of answering your question). I make it using similiar to the above ingredients, but do not use the cabbage. The recipe that I got was from a hospital, which prepares a heart patient to lose weight before having surgery. It's supposed to give you results pretty quickly. I thought I'd respond to your question because the soup recipe that I have is pretty tasty and also very nutrious. I have in the past made it when I've felt like I was getting a cold, and made myself eat as much of it as possible, and it really does the trick. So here goes:
2 cans chicken or beef broth
2 cans stewed tomotoes
1 green pepper
1 red pepper
1 whole celery
2 lbs carrots
1 lb green beans
3 green onion (or leeks)
A good little tip. I know it's heard to disipline yourself sometimes. Try instead of having a cup of tea or coffee, just drinking hot water. Warms you up this time of the year, and no calories.

the soup is good. Do you think you might get tired of eating the same thing day in and day out? Exercise is the best way to loose wieght combined w/ healthy eating (portion control being the BIG issue). Moderation is key in everything. Any diet that allows you to drop weight fast will also allow you to regain and then some.
As for the soup...it really is quite tasty. I like to spice it up w/ tobasco and peppers.
