Converting.?!

Question:

Converting.?

I've been thinking about becoming a vegetarian for quite a while, but I'm not sure how to convert. I'm sixteen, and I really have no say in what we buy for food, I just eat whatever they cook. Should I just skip the meat on my plate, or will I need a whole new diet to make up for the loss of protein? I also want to know what the difference is between a Vegan, and a Vegetarian

Answers:
You should really do some research on goveg.com and other websites and then try to talk with you family about your choice. It will be easier to explain why you are making the change if you research and can back yourself up with facts.

It is important to make sure that you are still getting enough protein in you diet or you could get sick. Protein in the form of nuts, beans, soy, or tofu. I have found so many great recipies on the net.

A vegetarian eats no kinds of meat. A vegan eats no meat, dairy, eggs, or other bi-products such as broth, etc.

a vegan will not eat animal products of any type including milk, cheese, or honey. and usually they wear no animal products either, including wool sweaters or leather shoes. they are a step beyond vegetarians. check in the yellow pages or on line for a vegetarian group near you. you can read many good books including Vegetarianism for Dummies, Vegetarianism for Beginners, etc. just type vegetarian into amazon.com and see the many books available to you. good luck.

Hi Joseph. Nice to hear that. Read this it might answer to some of your questions. I hope you can do your best in whatever situation you find yourself in. Good luck.

im veg, if you get the boca products they have soy protein in them so you dont have to worry about that. talk to your parents, see if they will start buying the boca products. they are cheap and taste great. then start moving into tofu.

first: a vegan is someone wo does not eat meat or any animal by-products, or use any animal by-products. a vegetarian is someone who does not eat meat. there are diffrent types of vegetairan's. you can google to see diffrent types.

i was in the same boat as you. just ate what was on my plate. first, have you brought up the subject? if not aproach one of your parents/gardions and say, "I want to be a vegetarian." BUT ARM YOURSELF WITH FACTS!!! they are most likely going to ask you question after question and give you things like "Vegetarians are pale, sickley people." (which is 100% false). but if you have informed yourself with facts this won't be such a pain. also, go to the source links to watch some of their videos. be willing to cook your own meals if necissary.
if you have brought up the subject build on that. bring up new recipies (goveg.com) and even offer to cook them yourself. be open to what they have to say and then they will be open to your words.
oh, and also, you can get a free vegetarian starter kit from peta2.com
good luck!

Check out my attached link please. I turned vegetarian almost a year ago and this book is what I call my VEGETARIAN BIBLE.

It will answer all your questions from the social issues to the nutritional issues of becoming a vegetarian.

Good luck - I will never go back to eating meat. Feels fabulous.

that is a start skipping the meats, try talking to your parents and discussing it with them, I'm a vegan and my daughter who is 13 just became a vegetarian. good luck
