How long do u have to be a vegetarian before eating meat makes u sick?

how much meat does it normally take to get u sick

does it happen to everyone

Answers:
probably after you haven't eaten it for a few months would do it. :)

i'm not sure if it happens to everyone. i've been one for two months, and if i smell meat it smells discusting. makes me want to barf. also, i guess if you've gone so long with out it then your stomach may not beable to handle all the fats and cholestrol (along with all those steroides and growth pill fed to animals). i would say at least 5 months for not being able to EAT it.

I was a vegetarian for ten years. The smell of meat didn't bother me, and when I started eating it again, it didn't make me sick.

Of course, I started slowly; I didn't just dive in and start eating fatty steaks.

It could take anywhere from a month to 10 years. It all depends on your surroundings, if you're around the smell of meat obviously it will take a lot longer. If you completely cut out meat and then all of a sudden have a nice big barbecue, just the smell of it could make you throw up. You see, your body produces cells that help digest meat and cells that digest vegetables and so forth. If you're not around meat after a while, your body stops producing these cells and it becomes more difficult for you to be able to eat meat, because your body is not used to this new food. I have been a vegetarian for 5 months now and I'd say that around the 3rd month the thought of meat grossed me out.

My best friend has been a vegetarian for 20 years, and he says the smell of bacon still makes his mouth water....it's his one temptation. And other meats don't make him sick to smell them either... he only feels sick if he thinks about how the poor critter ended up on his plate.

I was a vegetarian for 9 years and then ate meat and it didn't make me sick. After a few meals with meat in them, I went back to vegetarianism and it's been over 12 years but I don't want to eat meat again to find out if it makes me sick. Just thinking about it and smelling it reminds me I don't like it.

It is digestible for humans - it's not like your body forgets how. But that doesn't mean it's good for you. I suspect if you try it and it makes you sick there was some sort of grease problem or rancidity or maybe even some sauce that was too rich. You'll get used to it, if you want to, but why bother?

after a couple of months i couldn't stand the smell and the thought of it made me sick to my stomach. i'm sure at that point i couldn't have eaten it anymore, just based on the smell and gross factors alone.

however, how long would it take for my BODY to reject it? i really don't know, because i've been a vegetarian/vegan for 10 years and have never tried to eat meat.

i was on a trip to turkey when i was in college and couldn't understand a word the line cooks were saying, so i got some soup that turned out to be chicken based. i couldn't taste that because of all the other stuff blended in. that made me throw up, and i had been a vegetarian for about 2 years. so i know that at least by that point, my body wasn't about to go for the meat idea!

The first time I noticed it was after I was a vegetarian for a bit over a year. This restaurant that I went to I had no idea he put chicken in the soup, it was very fine and you cannot even tell its in there and all the waitresses said it was fine and had no meat in it or stock. When I left my stomach hurt really bad and by the time we were home I was nauseous. My friend who I was with was fine and we had the same thing. It was from the meat in the soup I later found out. I think it is different for all people though and who knows how long it really took me. I didn't have anything with meat in it until that time.

for some people it never happens..
but for most it would be after 2 months aprox

The thought of becoming a vegetarian, would make me sick, children need the benefit of a meat protien diet.

Its kind of odd that you would ask this question because I've been a vegetarian for about two years and last night, my mom made me eat some chicken and then today I stayed home sick. Maybe coincidence?

I'm a vegetarian and to cut my looooong stort short (I'm sure people are bored by it) because meat and fish eating made me feel sick sick sick!!! When you are 22 and feel 92 you have to make the change!! So I did. I'd be instantly sick if i put any meat (except the live hubby bit before some one else says it - LOL) near my mouth !!!!

I walked past a butcher's in a market on Saturday and I had to get some fresh air. The strong blood and sawdust smell was worse than the fishmonger's stall!!!

I have been vegitarian all my life and one time at a party I ate this bacon do-dad cause my silly stupid friend Jay said it was good and I put it in my mouth and Imediatly spit it out it was ikky so I would say you have to be a vegitarian for about 14 years and a couple of months

I have been a Vegetarian for 7 years and the smell of cooking meat makes me sick! I have no idea what eating it would do. But I am not about to try, I am fit, healthy and feeling full of energy! I don't want or need any meat.

I was a vegetarian for more than 20 years and this never happened. When I started eating meating again it was easy...no problems. Humans have specific enzymes for digesting meat and we do not lose them. There is some evidence that we can lose the ability to digest lactose from dairy products but this does not happen with meat.
I tink that it is probably a psychological effect when people get sick from eating meat.

Only about a day, If the meat is old

I didn't get sick I just got a little constipated!!

Before eating meat? Vegetarians never eat meat? Some may have eaten mean before they became a vegetarian! do U mean a vegetarian that stops being a vegetarian? Most vegetarians don't stop being a vegetarian! The idea of eating meat always made me sick even before I became a vegetarian! I guess U can gather that I don't Understand your question.. please reword it! U should be able to do so without asking a new question if the buttons are working!
