What is a good beginner tofu recipe?!

Question:

What is a good beginner tofu recipe?

Answers:
Any tofu recipe (as long as it's well-rated by those who've tried it) should be good... the thing is... you have to use the right kind of tofu! I didn't know this, and thought I hated tofu.

Do not get silken tofu (unless you're making a dessert or something creamy). Get a baked tofu or nigari style tofu. It is much firmer than even the firmest silken tofu. It actually has texture.

I have tried it on kabobs (with veggies). Marinate the tofu in a sauce (bbq, teriyaki, whatever), put on skewers with veggies and grill till browned. I've also tried dipping slices of tofu in cornstarch, then frying in oil (to make a deep-fried style tofu), which is good served over stir-fry with sauce. Just remember... tofu has no flavor to speak of... so you want to marinate it for as long as possible before cooking it.

deep fried tofu
with soy sauce and slices of onions and garlic

Tofu
ginger
suger

that's a great dessert.

Lasagna- make it the way everyone else would but substitute crumbled tofu for the cheese It's to die for!!!

Easy Tofu

1 package extra firm tofu
2 cloves garlic
soy sauce
vegan margarine
carrots
pea pods
water chestnuts
baby corn

Heat a skillet to medium. Place a pat of vegan margarine into the skillet. When that is melted place cubed tofu into the skillet.

Wait till the tofu is almost brown and then put finely chopped garlic into the skillet.

Wait till tofu is a golden brown and then place the veggies in. After the veggies are warmed put in soy sauce to taste.

Serves 4.

Cut tofu into 8 slices (lay flat and cut in half, and keep halving the pieces until you have 8). Press out as much water as possible (with a very clean cloth or paper towel). In a shallow baking dish, put 1/4 cup (or less) reduced sodium soy sauce. Place tofu in the dish, then flip after a few minutes. It should soak up all or most of the soy sauce. Pour in some water, enough to cover the bottom of the dish (about 1/4 -1/2 cup, depending on the size of the dish). Sprinkle with freshly minced garlic (1-2 cloves for one block tofu) and spices of your choice (e.g. cayenne, chili, fajita seasoning, etc). Bake at 350F for 25-30 minutes and enjoy :)

It's good with a meal or cold on a sandwich.

Put crab meat, cheese and a few chopped scallions on tofu, pour a little soy sauce a bake in the oven for a few minutes. I really like this one!

there is none. eating tofu will deprive your body of necicary nutrients. your bones will break EASILY. you will have little energy.
eat meat it's natures way! but good luck finding one any way.

Tofu fruit smoothies:

one third cake of soft silken tofu
strawberries
banana
honey
shredded ice
some rice milk/almond milk/or soy milk

in a blender, add tofu, and fruits, blend, then add some milk and honey, blend, add your ice...you can adjust the recipe to your thickness or taste...liced peaches work well, so do the raspberries or blueberries.... yummy.

I promise you, you will not taste the tofu at all. It is super healthy too.

Soak it in soy sauce, minced garlic, and a little peanut oil for a while. It's delicious raw but you can broil it too, after dipping it in cornmeal, and put it in a salad. Delicious.
