Vegetarian Christians ~ Jesus ate fish ~ then how can eating fish be wrong?!

Question:

Vegetarian Christians ~ Jesus ate fish ~ then how can eating fish be wrong?

Wouldn't the creator of all things - not eat fish if it were wrong?

Answers:
Eating fish is not wrong. Most vegetarians choose not to eat fish just because of today's pollutants in the water or because of "animal" rights. Sure they could eat fish. The logic of not eating the meat is basically because of the blood in meat. Fish, when cleaned, does not bleed the same. Now many vegetarians won't eat fish without scales (such as shark or catfish) because in the Old Testament there is a long list of "eats and don't eats". I believe that can be in Deuteronomy14. Rather choosing to eat meat of any group or none what so ever. To each person is his or her own. We should not persecute them. I hope this helps.

Sometimes people don't choose to be vegetarians *just* because of moral reasons. Sometimes, they do it for health reasons. When Jesus was alive, fish were caught from healthy and clean water. These days, fish are either caught from a polluted ocean, river or lake, or else they are genetically modified in fish farms and are swimming with pesticides. And let's not forget the mercury.

Not to mention the fact that by taking communion you are eating his flesh...

Jesus was not the creator of all things. He was a human when he walked the earth.

Jesus also drank wine, Merry Xmas.

Not a Christian, but I am a vegetarian. I eat fish.

You think that Jesus would be for the factory farms that fish now come from? You think that Jesus would be for the raping of the oceans, to the point of extinction, for fish? You think that Jesus would be for the mass quantities of other lives (dolphons, sea turtles, sharks, manatees, other by-catch) that are taken for one fish? You think that if Jesus knew the pain and suffering a fish could feel, he would still kill them for pleasure?

Sometimes rather than just parroting a 2000 year old book of parables or what's been told to you by someone else, think on your own. You'd be amazed what a litlle knowledge, research, and logic does for a brain. Be a Christian. Love Jesus. But, apply the teachings to today.

Jesus probably ate more meat than just fish. The traditional Jewish Passover dinner consisted of Lamb with bitter herbs. This is most likely what Jesus and his disciples were eating at the Last Supper. There are not any references in the Bible to eating meat being a sin unless it was sacrificed to an Idol or unclean. In fact please check out the following scripture from the King James Bible:

1 Timothy 4

1Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

2Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

3Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

4For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

Jesus probably didn't have a whole lot of options. It's not like there were Gardenburgers in Bethlehem.

Find me a tree that bears fish and I will eat fish.

Until then, fish is meat. Fish is meat. Fish IS meat. This is the truth and no amount of arguing is going to change this fact.

Hey this DUMB post below...what do you mean fish are not exactly an animal? Did you sleep through biology class in elementary school? Are fish plants? Wow, maybe I'll plant some fish seeds and get some fish trees.

um...actully most vegetarians DO eat fish, its not exactly a animal

If Jesus jumped off of a cliff, would you do it too? My point is...that people have something called a "free will" & they can each make a choice as to what they choose to do in their lives. Did you read the part that talks about the people who were not blindly following in the footsteps of others. These people still walk the earth too & they live quite well WITHOUT consuming ANY animal products or by-products that come from animals. You are free to eat whatever you choose for your own personal reasons. Why do you have questions regarding your eating of fish? Do you doubt your choices? Is your faith-based fish keeping you up at night? Perhaps you just have a faith issue & not a fish issue. Have you tried eliminating fish from your daily diet? Try it for 30 days & see if your mind is more at ease with the issues at hand! The fish will still be there if you change your mind.

you have a great point there. but the lord gave us the ability to make choices for ourselves. some choice to eat animal flesh, and some don't.
