Question:

I just became a veggitarian about a year ago,...?

i am 14 and still growing. i wanna know if there is a good way to get to get protein. my brother is wored im not getting enough protein in my diet

Answers:
Eat lots of beans and seeds and a moderate quantity of nuts and tofu. Substitute them for grains if you have to. You can get soy protein powder shakes if you want but it's better to eat whole foods like beans because they also supply iron and calcium. You'll get enough protein if you eat enough calories and STAY AWAY FROM JUNK FOOD LIKE CHIPS AND SODA

peanut butter is high in protein you may want to get some protein drinks or bars.

beans and rice

Good for you! I just wanted to send you kudos - you got some great answers...try some veggie/tofu dogs...you may like those!

protein bars and tofu have a lot of protein

Actually what you need to worry about is B12 . You'll get protien if you eat like peanut butter and beans but its hard to get b12.
oh, look it up on the internet. you'll find a lot of useful information.

Vegetarians hardly ever lack protein in their diet. If you would like some nutritional information though you may like to look at : http://www.recipesforvegans.co.uk/vegann...

beans (bush's beans carry vegetarian beans), nuts, PEANUTBUTTER!!!!, seeds, tofu, soy.

protien is actually in almost everything we eat just make sure you get at least one serving of somthing high in protein once a day. for example, i eat a peanutbutter sandwitch every day for lunch at school. (i'm 14 too). on the weekends you can fry up some tofu, or have some nice warm beans! for a snack any nut will do, but i prefere peanuts....i'm nuts for peanuts!!!! yay! lol

good luck, and keep staying vegie!!!!!

yay! veggie power =) your local grocery should have a tofu/soy section...don't be afraid to try some of those foods, try eating some fruits also =)

Well im only 10 and ive been a vegetarian for about 3 years and my mom was really worried about protien so i recomend that you eat peanutbutter, beans, and rice these alll are a great source of protien. also i practically live on the boca and morningstar farm food there soooooooo good and all made out of soy with LOADS of protien. There is vegi bacon, burgers, steak and even coldcuts for a sandwich there is even chicken tenders and cheese steak its realy good. if ur brothhers still woried about u then there are also pills that i take that have suppliements of calcium, protien and iron and i take those too. Well congrats on being a vegetarian and hope these suggestions help GOOD LUCK!

o? c sesame seeds
o? c sunflower seeds

NotesAfter the granola cools, store in in a tightly sealed container or plastic bag.
This granola makes a wonderful breakfast with yogurt and some fresh fruit (berries, peaches...). Or for a snack, try just a plain handful.
You can experiment with different kinds of nuts, dried fruit, and spices to find the mix you like best.

Hey. I became a vegetarian at age 12 and have been going strong for 7 years. Protein, to say the least, is the least of your worries. I went through a period where I was tired all the time, and had no energy. I thought I needed more protein. But it turned out, after going to the doctor, that I had a low iron count and had anemia. After that I learned that the real important thing is to maintain your iron count, and you will have much more energy and will obviously develop and grow healthily. For iron, shoot for things that contain molasses (sometimes I eat it raw, for an energy boost), oatmeal (mix peanut butter or brown sugar in to make it taste better) or whole grain bread and pasta. Also eating more faux meat products can help with getting more iron. Good luck!!

nuts have lots

eat nut bars

Okay, if you are a vegetarian, you can totally get enough protein. There are things like nuts, dairy, beans, and tofu that I eat to meet my "quota". There are other things you and your brother should worry about though: B vitamins and Iron are found in meat, and they are essential to our health. Make sure you get enough protein, but also eat foods high in iron, and take a daily multivitamin.
