where would they live?
They would wander around, moo-ing, pooping and tieing up traffic.
Eventually, their higher brain functions would allow them to develop language, a friendly society, learning, schools, universities and technology.
Then they'd flood the internet with Beefy-spam, get into politics, subvert the human way, organize an army and overthrow us! It would be a Mootiny!
Then we'll be out in the fields, waiting to be stunned, the women waiting to be milked...
(Hmmm. I wonder what the milking stool will look like?)
Anyway! Save yourself! Save us all! Eat a burger today! Keep those cows from taking over the planet!
Best wishes!
they would get old and become diseased
well I guess you'd be counting cows to fall asleep instead of sheep as there would be so many
They would end up dying duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!...
They would RULE THE WORLD!!!
They would get overpopulated and create diseases that would cause problems for the world. The same problem is already in place with White Tailed deer.
The same thing that happens to al the other animals that we don't eat.
We'd be using them for transportation of goods...like milk.
They'd get hit by cars and then we'd have to open a hunting season on them because of overpopulation......great idea.
Tastes better than venison!
the cows would over populate and because of over population diseases would come about like the bird flu or maybe an epidemic. non the less it wouldn't be good if we stopped because it could hurt us... I'm not saying that i want people to slaughter the cows because I'm a vegan.
They wouldn't get overpopulated. If people no longer ate beef the cows would stop being bred for their meat.
Foot and Mouth disease would probably wipe them out in 20/25 years, aided by Mad Cow Disease and lack of veterinary attention.....................
Depends on whether they're dairy or beef cows. If they are beef cows, it would be the last generation of cows since no more beef would be demanded. Therefore, no more new cows would be bred. That generation's fate might depend on funds from charities and the person owning them.
As for dairy cows, take the example of India. Cows past their prime have traditionally been allowed to live on and die of old age. Some people may consider it a waste of time and money but it shows the compassion they have (or used to have) for animals. Now some farmers there have started taking the Western example and selling them for beef.
I disagree with the post below. If we didn't eat meat, there wouldn't be "too many cattle". They are NOT wild animals like deer. Calving is controlled by us and if we didn't want beef or dairy, we wouldn't let calves be produced. I'm surprised that you, being a farm girl doesn't know the difference between a domestic and wild animal and the vast differences in population ecology laws.
In my opinion, cattle have one purpose in life: to provide food! Sorry if this offends anyone, but I grew up on a ranch, and cattle are pretty much useless for anything else. All they do is eat and poop. You can't ride them, they aren't fun to play with, they don't make good pets, you can't make yarn out of their fur, need I say more? They don't have many other redeeming qualities as a livestock animal. I have nothing against vegetarians, but there's no soy product made that equals a nice ribeye steak for dinner and a big glass of real milk with breakfast. If we weren't made to eat meat, we wouldn't have sharp teeth in the front. If we didn't slaughter cattle, there would be too many of them, we'd have to keep feeding them, and many people would be out of work.
To Stina (below me)
You poor, sheltered thing, you have obviously never spent much or any time around real cattle. They are stupid and pretty much worthless for anything other than food and Gucci bags. This is NOT my opinion, this is FACT. Your answer is rediculously idealistic and immature. If you don't like beef then don't eat it, but dont attack me just because I know what I'm talking about and you don't agree with me. If you have any leather shoes in your closet or upholstering anything you own then you are a hypocrite.
To David, person above me:
I never said that there wasn't a difference between cattle and wild animals, duh. Other people here said that, perhaps in humor, perhaps not. There would intitially be too many of them, they are not just going to stop breeding in a snap. Yes eventually their population would taper off, then eventually there wouldn't be any cows because we would have no use for them, and they would go extinct. Then all you vegetarians would be responsible for the extinction of a species. Way to go.
Wow, what a way to stir people up and get a bunch of thumbs down, go into the vegetarian forum and tell them the truth.
Anyone who doesn't find this thread funny is taking it WAY too seriously.
There would be no reason to farm them so I guess there would only be wild cows, kind of like deer and moose. They would probably be hunted though.
if the world whent veggie it would happen gradually and the number of cows would gradualy decrease so we wouldn't have to worry about any "extra" animals
If we didn't slaughter cows, people would eventually stop raising them or use them only for dairy.
They would start wondering around going into cities and disrupting peoples lives and then they would go in my backyard and i would get angry and shoot them.
They'd live happy lives
And contrary to popular belief, cows would NOT be overpopulated. If beef wasn't eaten as often, not as many cows would be bred to be slaughtered, which means not as many cows would be around, and the cows that ARE around would be eatin grass and bein happy. :)
And to whoever made the comment that cattle are for food and they have no other purpose? I think that's ABSURD! Why do cattle have to have a "purpose" that YOU approve of? Can't they just live life and be happy? What if I came along and said YOUR life isn't worth anything because of MY opinion? You'd think I was crazy! Likewise, I think it's crazy to say anyone or anything's life is worthless or only for one thing just because YOU think so.
you're right, were protecting them.we all know what people mean by "protecting them."
The only reason we HAVE so many cows is because we purposely breed them for slaughter. If people stopped eating them, ranchers would stop breeding them and we'd only have as many cows as was needed to support the dairy industry. Not all cows out there are intended to be food... farmers use cows for milk production, but also to keep their fields "mowed", etc. Kind of like how some people have un-ridable horses living in their fields.
Of course all this is irrelevant anyways since the entire world (or even the US) will never stop eating animals. Individually, we can choose to make a difference... but the practice is still going to happen.
They'd live.
