Can you name any type of bread, pastry, etc that doesn't have eggs?!

Question:

Can you name any type of bread, pastry, etc that doesn't have eggs?

I want to eliminate eggs completely from my diet. Also, is pasta made of eggs?

Answers:
You can make all sorts of cakes and other pastry without eggs. Most of the recipes you will find will require an egg 'substitute'. However most of the substitutes you will find aren't really substitutes, but cartons of egg white, mixed with a little vegetable oil, flavouring, colour, etc. You can find egg replacers made without eggs, but they can be scarce. Try your local health food store, they'll be your best bet. Pasta is also made from eggs, if you make your own then use the substitute you find, but the easiest option is premade from the health food/organic food store. Here is a recipe for eggless chocolate cake.

1-1/2 cup flour
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup cold water (or ice coffee)
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tsp vinegar

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Use a small brownie size pan (no greasing required). Mix all the dry ingredients right in pan. Mix all the wet ingredients in separate bowl except the vinegar (important!). Add wet ingredients to dry and stir until all dry ingredients are mixed. Add the vinegar quickly and stir in ― immediately put the pan in the oven and bake for 25 to 30 min. Cool thoroughly.

Optional: after you add the vinegar, you can put some frozen cherries, raspberries or cranberries on top of the batter (or you can mix them in beforehand)

Yeah err bread

Pita bread

some gluten free bread is dairy free.

Egg Noodles are.

But I know several Vegan Bakers who can make ANYTHING!!!

I even made a vegan quiche once, with Tofu...it wasn't easy "inventing" it from scratch.

Bread can be made easily without eggs, just flour, yeast, water, milk powder and salt. if you go onto www.yummyfood.net there are plenty of recipes on there. i dont think pastry can be made without eggs. pasta has egg in it.

Most breads don't have eggs in the ingredients, except for things like challah, brioche or quick breads. I found a recipe for eggless pasta as well.

A LOT of sliced breads do not contain eggs and are readily available in your grocery store. Nature's Own is the one I buy. I'm sure there are others -- just read the label to be sure.

Nature's Own web site is here: http://www.rudisbakery.com/viewproductde...

Bagels rarely contain eggs (the egg bagel excluded, of course). Again, just read the list of ingredients to be sure that they do not contain eggs.

Tortillas (for wraps), English Muffins, and Pita Bread are also great alternatives to "regular" sandwich bread.

If you want to make your own bread, there are tons of recipes! This site has 227: http://www.recipezaar.com/recipes/breads...

As far as pasta, they often contain eggs. They are used for their added nutritional value to the pasta and provide for a rich creamy color. They are not necessary, however, so again, read the labels and you should be able to find one that is eggless. Colavita products usually are eggless.

As for pastries, that is the most difficult one. This link seems to provide the best information: http://www.deccanherald.com/deccanherald...

You can order eggless cakes that can be shipped anywhere in the US here: http://www.1-800-bakery.com/cakes__pies_...

Almost all store bought pasta is egg free (except egg noodles obviously). We eat pasta alot, it's quick, easy, cheep, and best of all, Vegan.

its a type of eghytpian bread and it only uses cornmeal, flour, salt, water, and herbs.

Biscuits are generally made without eggs. Here's a basic biscuit recipe (there are all kinds of variations):

BISCUITS

2 c Flour
4 ts Baking powder
3 tb Butter
1/2 ts Salt
3/4 c Milk

Mix dry ingredients and butter with 2 knives as
for pastry. Add milk and mix. Roll out an inch
thick. Cut in rounds, brush over tops with melted
butter. Bake about 15 minutes in a 350 degree
oven.

sourdough bread is always made without eggs. Most dry pasta is made without eggs (except egg pasta of course). There are tons of breads made without eggs, you just need to read the ingredients and there are some fresh eggless pastas. check out natural food stores for them. You could always make your own. It's time consuming, but it's soooo worth it.
