Question:

Christmas dinner with out meat?

Answers:
I'm not totally sure what the nature of your question is but yes, if you're asking if it's possible to have xmas dinner without meat! I have a nut roast with all the usual other things - roast potatoes, cabbage, stuffing, gravy etc! Simple.

no way, what about the turkey goble goble

Buy some then

hell yeah! veggy al the way for me mate! its really not as bad as you would think.

Yes, been there down that. I don't like the tofurky nor the quron turkey.

mmm...I always make roulade. In America, there's always Tofurkey in the shops before thanksgiving. dunno if that exists here.

enjoy your brussel sprouts ............. *wierdo*

For main course we'll be having a nut loaf with a baked sweet potato dish, with "normal" veg on the side (peas, corn etc).

Artichoke and Sun-dried Tomato Pasta

INGREDIENTS

1 (8 ounce) package fresh fettuccine
4 tablespoons butter
3 cloves garlic, crushed
1 (8 ounce) package sliced mushrooms
1/2 medium onion, chopped
10 ounces marinated artichoke hearts
2/3 (8 ounce) jar sun-dried tomatoes, packed in oil
1 (2 ounce) can sliced black olives, drained
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 ripe tomato, chopped
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 cup dry white wine
1 cup Parmesan cheese

DIRECTIONS

Cook pasta in boiling water until done. Drain.
Melt butter over medium heat in a large saucepan. Saute onions, mushrooms, and garlic until tender. Stir in sun-dried tomatoes, olives, artichoke hearts, wine, and lemon juice. Bring to a boil; cook until liquid is reduced by a third, about 4 minutes.
Toss pasta with sauce. Top with tomatoes and cheese, add pepper to taste, and serve.

Side Dishes
French Bread

Spinach and Mushroom Salad

Combine baby spinach with 4 ounces slices mushrooms and a handful of cherry tomatoes. Toss with your favorite creamy dressing.

1 C. water

In a med. Saucepan, combine 1 T. margarine, 1 T. Honey and water. Add brussel sprouts. Bring to a boil and continue boiling until water is evaporated and sprouts are tender, about 10 minutes
In a small bowl, combine remaining margarine ,honey, and cardamon, blend well. Pour over sprouts and cook until syrup is thickened, 3 to 5 min. longer. Season with salt and pepper. Serve hot. Serves 6

Yes please - in fact, after reading the animal aid fact sheet on turkey, I'm even more resolute that everyone should try to leave meat alone this and every Christmas. Christmas is a time for peace to all, animals included and people should start to respect this rather than pigging out (excuse the pun) on all these meat products. Please go to http://www.animalaid.org.uk/images/pdf/f... to find out why a meat free Christmas is the only way to ensure you are not involved in cruelty and exploitation.

Yup, I'm having your typical christmas dinner with all the trimmings, only I'm replacing the traditional turkey with quorn garlic & herb fillets. Mmm mmm!

that's not impossible. this year is my first vegetarian christmas and i have got a lot ideas what i can cook, just be a little bit creative.

...no meat on my plate..not for me...but i do like to suck on a sausage whenever i can...it's Christmas after all...have fun..xxx

If you want something that looks traditional on your plate you could try Quorn roast. It comes frozen & you just put in oven
