Anyone heard about this? About Quorn Brand products?
I really want to try the Quorn meatless products, but in doing my search for their home site I found this article about people getting severly ill from it because of a fungus used. http://www.cspinet.org/quorn/ Has anyone else experienced syptoms like these or know of anyone who has?

I eat Quorn a lot... it's REALLY good. Has a very "chicken-like" taste and texture... more so than the soy-based substitutes. Quorn is not soy based... it is made from the quorn fungus which is similar to a mushroom I guess... but different.
Anyway... I've been eating it for a long time and I've never gotten sick from it at all. The site you offered seems to be talking about a specific allergic reaction that some people get. If you're allergic to the fungus they use, you'll get sick. However, this shouldn't be alarming as there are many foods for which this is true. A few common (but severe) food allergies which many people suffer from include peanuts and shellfish. Others are allergic (generally more mildly) to milk (lactose specifically), gluten, etc. Food allergies can be deadly, regardless of which food it is that you're allergic to. I don't think Quorn is any more potentially dangerous than any other food.
i eat quorn, and ive never got sick from it, neither has anyone i know
No, but Quorn is a fungus, like a mushroom. We eat it all the time and have never had any problems.
Some people might be sensitive to the fungus. My family eats it and I have served it to several people and nobody got ill from it. As stated above, a person is much more likely to be allergic to peanuts or shellfish.
Give the Quorn a try..it's fantastic. I recommend the tenders. I use it in stirfry's, in "chikn" and rice dishes and so much more.
Perfectly safe. I eat it every week
I read the link article and it states that some people may have dangerous allergic reactions, not all people. This is true of other types of foods as well. Fish, shellfish, peanut butter, strawberries are all known to cause severe reactions, just not in everybody. Any food has the ability to cause an allergic reaction. If you have an allergy to certain foods check the labeling, if you are allergic to molds, fungi, iodine, etc. this may not be the food for you. Be brave, give it a go. I have found this brand to be great, we eat the roast at holiday meals and thoroughly enjoy it.
