Dehydrated Pineapple?!

Question:

Dehydrated Pineapple?

How long does dehydrated pineapple last? I bought some a month ago and kept it in a small, tight lid container. It doesn't smell bad or taste bad. . . my boyfriend said I'm being gross. Is it still okay to eat?

Answers:
Dried food is one of the oldest forms of food preservation.

As long as you keep it tighty sealed to prevent air & moisture getting to it it should last a year or two, maybe longer. Even if it does get as hard as a rock, it's still good...just hard.

If it does get hard a tasty ice cream topping can be made from it.
Put the pineapple in a saucepan add enough water to just cover & bring to a boil. Take a slotted spoon & remove the fruit, set aside & when cool enough to handle chop into chunks. Measure the water left in the pan & add an equal amount of sugar to it (1c h2o=1c sugar). Boil this about 5 minutes, add the pineapple boil another 2-3 min & remove from heat & let cool to room temp & store in the fridge.

I do believe that it took me longer to type that than it does to actually make it! ; )

I preserve my own foods by drying & canning.

If it does not look at taste bad and if you stored it in a cool dried plae then its safe to eat. But next time don't wait for a month to finish
