Why does Fort Worth's water taste funky right now?!

Question:

Why does Fort Worth's water taste funky right now?

It tastes like it came straight from a pond, bypassing all water treatment plants. YUCK!

I'm not on a well. It's city water.

Oh, and I found this: http://www.fortworthgov.org/?id=37018&te... taste&searchtype=1&fragment=Fa...
It's an article from January, though. Funny thing is I hadn't noticed any changes until now. But now I can even smell the funky water when I turn the shower on. Bleh. One thing's for sure though, I'm going to buy another filter for my Brita pitcher AND bottled water!

its because there renovating and extending the plant so there opening the pipes and it brings in things in to the water so it gets dirty after it exits the plant s your getting dirty water becasue of the construction

why you drinkin tap water???

don't have a water filter in your house
Too Bad
Most "most" cities pump from deep wells
As the water table drops they suck all the leaking gas stations junk and the improper septic tanks in the area.
or some stagnant pond.
Movie 'Erin Brocovich'
the city has to have a water board and make annual quality reports
BUT are you on a well of your own or for the subdivision???

Not sure, but I would buy some bottled water.

The changing of the filtering system would be part of it. the water also gets a bit weird when we get a whole lot of rain or are deep in a drought. i would just do bottled for a while to drink and get a stronger scented soap until the mud from all this rain settles down.

Does it smell like rotten eggs? If it does it is Hydrogen Sulfide or H2S that is in your water. This is a problem for both well water and city water. In city water it is common if your free chlorine level is low and the hydrogen sulfide gas (smell) comes form bacteria slime build up in the pipes. The city is required to maintain the water quality. There are home test kits you can buy to test your water for Hydrogen sulfide and Chlorine. If your chlorine level is low the city is required to remedy the situation. Go to www.sensafe.com for a home water kit . Learn more about the laws that the city has to follow in reagrds to your water quality at www.epa.gov.

stick to bottled or purified..
