Trying to get rid of onion smell?!
Trying to get rid of onion smell?
So, I work in a kitchen and at the end of the day I can't get the smell of onions off of my hands. Does anyone have any solutions?
Answers:
Rub your hands with lemons. leave it for a bit and then rinse them with water. works for me everytime( make sure though that you appy a good lotion later. It can be drying)
Have you tried washing them with baking soda and a little lemon
juice?
Squeeze lemon juice on them rub and rise wash with dish soap and it should disappear
Tomato juice and salt, scrub your hands with it.
If you have a sterling silver spoon, hold onto it under running water. If not, Use salt and rub all over your hands and then wash.. the salt draws outthe smelly onion in your hands.
Wash your hands with either lemons or tomato juice, I hadn't heard about the salt solution before but it sounds like it could work too.
Okay, my Uncle told me this one when I was a kid and it really works.
Wash your hands w/ toothpaste.
I know, it sounds crazy but I hate raw onions, cook w/ them all the time though and hate the smell on my hands.
As a matter of fact, I keep a tube under my kitchen sink for that reason.
Yes, again, I know it sounds crazy but when something that crazy works, just do it.
Doesn't matter what kind.
OK, I know this sounds strange but... Try rubbing your hands over a stainless steel utensil or even the countertop while under cold running water.. I don't know why it works, but it does. Any time I chop onions or garlic, I wash my knife then switch the water to "cold" and run my fingertips along the back of the knife. Presto! Smell gone!
Just like the others suggested... rub a lemon half all over your hands, and squeeze the juice out on your hands too.
If you have access to a stainless steel sink, wipe it out and rub your hands over the bottom several times. It will take the smell right out. Wash your hands with a good anti-bacterial soap afterwards.
lemon juice??
wash your hand with dish detergant and hot hot hot water. take it right away but that water will burn.
Lemon juice and hot water but later put on some lotion or something.
lemons, rub one on your hands and wait a few minutes before rinsing.
wipe over your fingers the lemon pulp...other tips, to prevent yourself form crying while chopping or slicing the onion, make sure that you have about 1/4 cup of salt in front of you while chopping or slicing the onion
