Need definitive answer as to whether to refridgerate tortillas or not?!

Question:

Need definitive answer as to whether to refridgerate tortillas or not?

I've been reading about whether to store bread, tortillas, bagels, and english muffins in the fridge or not. I can't seem to find any information on anything but bread.

There are various reports, with some saying to refridgerate and some not. Based on the feedback, it seems that its probably best not to refridgerate unless it will be exposed to excessive heat and/or humidity.

To further confuse things, the grocery store seems to keep some bagels and English muffins next to the bread, but also have some in the refridgerated section. I know there is no way that this should vary based on the brand.

I live in Texas, so it is pretty hot in the summer. We keep the house at around 76F. So do I refridgerate these items or not?

Answers:
well, the reason for placing some items in refrigerated areas is a way to selll a product...like "hey it goes well with so and so"...

plus some heathier products have natural ingredients which you have to keep refridgerated...

but about refridgerating tortillas and all that... i don't like the way the cooler changes the taste of starchy items like this... that's why i leave it out.

Its alright to leave bread and tortillas out.. Bread can also be froze. I don't know about freezing tortillas. I leave mind in the cupboard.

I never refrigerate tortillas. Of course, they don't last all that long in my house, either.

Yes, I do and they keep longer and taste fresher.

yes you can, make sure you have a air tight container, plus if potato chips are on sale, I buy a few extra bags and put in freezer, when you remove from freezer, just set at room temp, they take fresh as new
