Can canned pineapple on pizza give you food poisoning?

several children and one adult ate pizza and one adult ate just 2 bites of the pineapple off the pizza one adult and several children (but notall ) within -12 + hours vomiting , diahrea, knife in the gut feeling. adult that only ate 2 bltes of pineapple has mild diahrea and stomoch upset and 2 children have not yet reacted not sure if and how much pizza they ate could the pineapple cause this. or could something else on the pizza cause . how do we find out if flu or poisening and why only some i don't think its the flu as the one adult that only ate the pineapple was only around the family for a 1/2 hour yesterday and no contaact for week before that.

I don't think it could have been the pinnapple, maybe the eggs in the dough were not properly refigerated

No, only if the pineapple was rotten. Bad food equals no good.

I am not a doctor, but this does sound like food poisoning. Anything you eat can potentially cause food poisoning. All that is required is for the food to come in contact with harmful bacteria, then be eaten. A doctor could probably tell you for certain whether or not it is food poisoning, but there may not be anything he can do. A lot of the time symptoms only occur for a day or so, but its better to be safe than sorry.

You can used canned pineapple on pizza.. sounds to me like the canned pineapple that was used on this pizza (if it was the cause) the pineapple cannot be left in the open can! Once you open canned vegetables/fruits and meats they must be transferred to another container and sealed and stored when not in use at a temperature no higher than 40 degrees. The metal inside will turn the contents if stored in the can.. it's a breeding ground for bacteria at that point.

It is possible, any type of canned product can become contaminated, especially if it was previously open and sat somewhere for a while.

I would be more concerned about the other ingredients such as the cheese, or if there was any ham on the pizza. possibly the dough was not prepared correctly. everyone's bodys handle bacteria differently so that is probably why not everyone got sick.

Pinapple ferments very quickly if not kept cold. This happend at a sizzler in my town. The guy who did the salad bar let it out over the weekend and monday he just put it out.

They tested it it was like 90 proof. More then vodka. The kids were getting drunk on 4 or 5 peices and the cops showed up and they made everybody do a test that had pineapple before they could drive.

If the kids were getting sick, it might have been for that reason.

The only thing to watch for when buying canned foods are dents and breaks in the can. Some strains of bacteria/virus' can live there. That's how people get food poisoning from canned foods.
