What's the most healthy meat?!

Question:

What's the most healthy meat?

On my opinion, it would have to be elk. It's packed full of protein and has very little fat.

Answers:
I would have to say lean steak. It might not be the best for people watching fat and calories, but I am anemic and it contains the most iron and b12.

eww, turkeys healthy

i would say turkey or chicken.

I think it would be chicken
A big elk steak does sound good right now.
Can I have one?/????????????/ PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Game meat is generally very healthy, as long as the fat is trimmed. I have heard good things about bison due to the particular kind of fats it has (omegas).

I had elk a few times when I was in the midwest and I miss it soo much.

Surprisingly, pork is now very healthy, especially the lean cuts like tenderloin.

This is due to a change in raising swine, which no longer emphasizes heavy hogs, mostly because of a low demand for lard.

By the way, I would stay away from that elk. A lot of elk are afflicted with a mysterious wasting disease, feared to be akin to mad cow.

Buffalo meat is another excellent source of lean protein.

Turkey or Chicken. However, not fried chicken; that has too much oil and grease. Your best bet is baked chicken.

Does fish count?

Elk? I would say turkey (extremely lean) and fish (omega 3's), but usually fishes and non red meat is healthy as long as it isn't fried and it's skinless.

White meat turkey is also a very good source of protein, is low in fat too and is good for weight loss.

But it depends on what you want!

Red meat even has its qualities - full of creatine for muscle growth and its fat can also be 'healthy' when used correctly.

In fact, the fillet mignon steak is proven to have either the same amount or just a bit more fat than chicken but still manages to deliver numerous nutrients despite its high price.

mainly white meat like Fish, chicken.

Kosher and Grass-fed Bison: Healthy Meat, Incredible Taste

Bison is one of the best tasting of all meats; this is my opinion, and apparently the opinion of many others, as this red meat has rapidly been appearing on the menus of fine restaurants throughout the world over the last decade. Its flavor is similar to prime beef, but sweeter and more tender. Bison also happens to be one of the most nutritious meats on earth, which is why I eat it more than any other meat, and recommend it so highly to you.

Bison, also known as buffalo, is a highly nutrient dense food because of the proportion of protein and minerals in relation to its caloric value. One pound of ground bison, in fact, contains 34 grams of protein, while its fat, cholesterol and calorie levels are lower than other popular meats, as you can see in the chart below. Comparisons to other meat sources also show that bison has a greater concentration of iron as well as some essential fatty acids necessary for

Bison Nutrition Comparison
Serving (3 oz.) Calories Protein (g) Fat (g) Chol. (mg)
Bison 85 18 2 49
Ostrich 97 22 2 58
Chicken (skinless) 140 27 3 73
Turkey (skinless) 135 25 3 59
Beef (lean, steak) 240 23 15 77
Pork (lean, loin) 275 24 19 84

According to: Dr. Joseph Mercola

If you want the best low fat/lean meat it's white fish (trout, tilapia,) fish like that. One of my favorites if I get a taco craving or want a burger is 97/2 or fat free ground turkey or Buffalo is very very low in fat the marbling isn't near what beef would be if you wanted a steak or something like that.

White chicken Breast or salmon in my opinion.. Protein, plus the salmon contains omega 3 fatty acids.

all wild meat is more healthy than farm raised.no additives, chemicals, added hormones, etc.Taste wise I prefer venison.all are good after a good soak in milk to draw out the "wild" taste that some folks dis-like.There are cook books specific to game animals, they are worth the money.Last time I checked, fish are separate from the "meat" category.

I really don't think there is a perfect answer to that question. What are you looking for? If you need iron, eat liver. Omega's, eat fish, etc, it depends what you need or what you want to get out of what your eating to decide which is the healthiest for YOU. Personally, I enjoy steak :D But my daughter needs liver, and my son needs fish....

Chicken or any other white meat is good.

I don't think any meat is more healthy than an other. As another reader answered pork has been breed to be a healthy source of protein. Of course elk and bison or buffalo have very little fat but then again fat is where the flavor is. As far as the healthiest, it has more to do with preparation than species. Most of the fat on poultry is just under the skin so you should remove and discard it before preparation. Pork now is leaner than a lot of beef but here again the leaner cuts are more healthy and excess fat should be removed.
